The term "stakeholders" seems to be used all over the place now. It refers to anyone involved in whatever the topic or business is. When I was younger, there was a different mean for this word.
Being a stakeholder is meant to imply that you have an interest in a topic or organization, and your opinion will be heard and given serious consideration. As they say, "A sucker is born every minute."
I always presumed the "stake holder" was the one who financed the "grub stake" for the "stake-ee" who "staked the claim" ...

Shot in b&w, so no, it wasn't converted from color.
Really nice, Jim... reminds me of the gentle gradations in much of Weston's work- and coincidently- also of Cunningham's "Two Calas". Very nice.

I posted this in the Photo Gallery, but for those of you who don’t visit there…
The storm broke just long enough for the sun to illuminate the mountains.

Got to visit Alaska for the autumnal equinox last September; my first time there and it did not disappoint. Saw some of the pipeline while driving south along the Richardson Hwy from Delta Junction to just north of Valdez. There is nothing in the lower 48 like Alaska. I hope it stays wild forever!!! Unlike a lot of visitors, my companion and I did not do a cruise; we rented a vehicle and logged over 1,700; we got permission to drive into Denali Nat Pk for over four hours because we were there after the tourist season ended. The only cruisin' we did was Prince William Sound one day and Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords Nat Pk the next.
Got to visit Alaska for the autumnal equinox last ... (
show quote)
I spent many hours in Fairbanks at "The Big I" bar, near where the train station once was, and watched hundreds of folks- mostly elderly- parade past with their faces pasted against the glass of a bus window all excited to "see" Alaska... and I always felt sorry for them; they could have watched a video instead. That's a bit harsh... what I mean is "looking" at Alaska isn't "experiencing" Alaska where it's advantageous to recognize the smell of birch, willow and spruce; either as alive or heating your house or smoking your salmon, to feel the difference between sun and shade, to get glacier dust in your shoes, to know silence when you see it... You did it right, be top gun, you had experience, not just exposure... Lots of folks won't understand what I just said because some things must be lived to be understood. I used to read alot of John Haines poetry- he lived, wrote, trapped and hunted at Tenderfoot (notice it's "at" not "in" because Tenderfoot doesn't exist except by habit on maps) in that green, squat cabin beside the highway about a mile from where you took a photo from the overlook above the Tanana River. The longer I lived in Alaska, the more I appreciated Haines' words because I learned what they really meant- how he meant them- words with Alaskan connotation, opposed to a denotation found outside the boreal and sub-arctic world. In your heart, be top gun, you may be an Alaskan...
Double thumbzup! THANKS Karin!!
Thumbz and starry eyes!! Thanks, sippy!!
Glad you think so, Ken- THANKS!

You could do as I did... I bought a 32inch TV, with a USB port. Put your favorite photos on a thumb drive(s), insert into the port on the TV, set it to play the photos as a 'rotating' wall photo display! I love seeing the photos of our scenic travels, every time I walk it!!!
That's a good idea, DougS!
