TRY lower iso , like 250 , also you will need lower speed to compensate . If you can hand held without shakes , you could shoot at 500 or less . For birds , an 800mm lens does better .

I am not quite sure what camera did what , but on the 2 picture that shows 4 , the upper right ones win . The p1000 is definitively not as sharp . Thank you for that test , very informative .

I am at a point that i refuse to buy anything newer that i have [ D300 and 7100 ] The 300 is a better camera , so i use it daily [ birds and other] .Cameras have been silly for a long time now , way too complex .I ll bet you dont use 10 % of whats is in there .So with me, old stuff rule , including older manual lenses .[ also VERY affordable ].

The moon is lighted by the sun , so , why 1/8 of a sec . Since you will be shooting wide or close to open , 1/100 or faster would be it .

The wider the lens the closer to your subject , not great for bugs .Have 2 ways of doing it , one is a 90 tamron macro , the other an older 70/210 nik zoom with a set of MIKE extension tubes , that second set up work better , easier to use , not too close to your subject . Also i have noticed that the depth of field is wider with the 70/210 at like f16 . With a zoom lens , you preset the focus to your need , like be close or farther , then you focus using the zoom action .So for about $60 for a set of extension tubes , [ 20mm work best ] you can use a variety of lenses .

You tube has everything you need , most of the videos are right on . Yes at time something is not up to the job , but most of the time it is .Anything you need is there .

I dont see anything wrong with this , maybe 1/2 stop light . But , ill bet if you look at the water , it same on photo then in life .
