Very fine shot Stavros!
Interesting and sharp.
How did you manage the depth of field so large? Did you use stacked focus?
Happy shooting!

Steve, I think I need to make a little correction to your statement:

The oil in the pipeline is warm and that is the reason for separating it from the permafrost. That is also why the supporting structures need to be cooled.
Otherwise, the permafrost would melt and the pipeline will break.

Only in places where there is NOT permafrost, the pipeline can be buried under the surface.

However, in spite of very advanced and somewhat impressive engineering, it is a huge damaging change to a precious wilderness.
Especially now, when we are trying to get off the oil and coal technology.
Cheers!

I always enjoyed your speciality Ed, but since you never use the DOWNLOAD, and I couldn't enlarge them, I lost interest - until today - when I clicked on your image. It went to "flicker" and Eureka, the picture could be suddenly enlarged.
Bravo Ed, it is a pleasure to see the work of Nature (and yours) in such detail.
Cheers!

And then - you saw this shot and decided to take it?
Regardless the story, you got everything right, Rgrenader.
It is a good, vibrant, and sharp shot - thanks for sharing.

What really amazes me is the right decision made by Cadillac - to have a talented car designer (sculptor)
Pinin Farina to design their car?
A good design lasts.
Pinin Farina's exceptional work - even after 67 years is still modern, clean, and beautiful.
Cadillac still could make it today.

It is just the opposite, Hereford.
The flow of the oil is generating heat and the foundations of the supporting structures need to be cooled so the heat wouldn't melt the permafrost and break the pipeline.
Each support needs a cooling tower - as you can see?

You never disappoint, Bill! Always sharp, good color, and contrast control.
Camera? Tripod? Focal length?
Happy shooting!

Very well done, Mike!
Especially the second pano. How many frames did you use? Wide angle? Can you identify at least one summit?
Cheers!

The flower is nice and sharp but the insect is out of focus.
DOF is probably too small?

The idea or a message conveyed to others is the goal.
It doesn't matter whether you use the most recent large format digital "Brownie" one hundred years old uncoated lens film camera or a pinhole home-made creation?
Let us "read" the image and THINK!

It is your choice, Inbigd but just looking at the picture, I agree with others, that too many sections decrease the stability of the tripod.
On top of that problem - I also consider the twist locks difficult if not impossible in cold weather when the ice can form and make the locks slippery. The flip locks are considered a better way. They are also faster and more secure because you always can see, whether the leg is locked up or not.
Another question is the leg end. Rubber/spike end is more versatile and allows you to use the snow baskets.
Check also the weight difference between fiber and aluminum.
For a tripod of your desired class and stability - with all your features - you can find an aluminum tripod for about $70:00.
Happy shooting!

I have several objections to this product, if you are interested:

1.The twist locks - too slow and difficult to turn in winter when ice could build up. Flip locks are more convenient and secure.
2. Legg ends do not allow to use of snow baskets.
3. I am not sure if the legs could be turned 180 degrees in order to allow to reverse the whole tripod for quick close-to-the-ground flower shots without removing the center column.
4. The head which looks like a secure design is also slow in operation. A larger but simple ball head is more convenient - even for heavy lenses.
5. The leveling base looks good.
