Thanks, Mike. I doubt there is a summer day when we don't see a fly, however, perhaps we don't see one magnified ten times.

Magnified ten times? If that was all, the image would only be maybe a half inch wide. I'd have to guess your image is at least 1000X if not more! Fantastic!

JR,

I may be one of the few on here that even knows what a Topcon RC Super is. I bought mine when I was in Vietnam in 1967. It sounds just like what you have. I'm afraid I'm not ready to separate the lens cap from it. As far as it's usefulness as a camera, those days are gone. The leaves of the diaphrams are so slow that you will never get the f-stop you have set. It was a great camera and I'm guessing I must have taken thousands of photos with it. If you know of any way to get the diaphram leaves freed up , I'm all ears.

Ancient people were more ingenious than we give them credit for being.

I am not convinced that they were built with the knowledge and abilities that were available 5000 years ago. And the more you learn about the complexities of the interior of the pyramids, it's that much harder for me to believe. So how or who built them? Can you consider visitors from outer space? Considering the age of the universe, we as a civilization are very young. It's very possible that other civilizations could easily be several thousand years ahead of .

This is probably a dumb question. Can snails actually see? If so, are their eyes on the top or bottom thingies sticking out of their Heads. Neither of them look like eyes.

Just curious. How do you know you will not be met by a train coming from the other direction? And if you did, could you get your ride clear of the tracks in time?

I was going home from my photo club meeting last week and was approaching the James River Bridge, when I noticed this sunset. I had to stop and take a few shots while this color lasted. Hope you like it.

Afternoon clouds shot with Samsung 22S+.

Keep this one for "Sky replacement" in Photoshop. Those are some beautiful clouds. But don't fly through them . That would be a very rough ride.

Did the middle finger mean the same thing that long ago? When did that practice start, anyway?

Jim,

I think all of subjects are girls I would have loved to know when I was about their age. My only complaint Is not at you but that no one else is posting any photos in this group. You last one is a real beauty.

Here I am, on the road in New Hampshire, and I come across a great monster rock and rushing-water scene. I'm getting ready to start shooting, and this lass walks by and gets right in front of me. I contemplated approaching her and asking if she would kindly move until I got my shot. However, I considered that she might put a karate move on me and ruin my day. I tell you, these young people just have no respect for old codgers.

Nonsense! "Blocking the pedals" does not cause a helicopter to crash! They only assist in making turns left or right. The cyclic and collective controls are essential to flying. Helicopters can actually be safely landed with no tail rotor at all.

Obviously, you have never flown a helicopter. As a helicopter pilot and instructor in the Army, the pedals are a critical part of controlling the aircraft. You are correct in one case, only.... In a single rotor helicopter, loss of tail rotor control would depend on how that control is loss. IF, control is lost, and the tail rotor is not in a full deflection in one direction or the other, and you can fly fast enough to be able to maintain a heading, by stream lining, then you can make a running landing and once on the ground, reduce power to idle. We had to be able to do this in the Huey. It had a long rear end and basically a fixed vertical tail. Some smaller helicopters have very little rear aerodynamic surfaces to allow it to streamline if tail rotor is lost, so I cannot speak for them.

In the case of the C-47 when the problem began, they were at a high hover. Directional control in a twin rotor is done with the rotors being tilted in opposite directions. Once started, if not returned to neutral, there would be no way to stop it. Changing power would have no effect. In a single rotor, say at a low hover, reducing power, (torque) could slow a rotation. In effect a hovering auto-rotation.
