I have seen a doe with 1 fawn or 2 fawns, but never 3. Everyone looks healthy and happy as they were romping through my yard. This was the only photo I could get with all 4 together.

Here in northern Nevada the Mule Deer have a 15 to 20 percent chance of having triplets. Twins are the most common.

Staying with relatives in Redding and would like to take some pics of the lake. Have no familiarity with the area. Can anyone local or familiar provide some directions of what roads to take for some good photo ops? Thanks!

You might like Burney Falls as well. http://www.burney-falls.com/

Is it possibly a Blackburnian Warbler?

I use Light Image Resizer Free. You can select multiple images or folders, and specify where they are saved. You can also right click to resize from the context menu. Very easy to use.

It possibly is not as accurate, but I just auto-focus on a distant object (mountains about twenty miles distant in my case) and then switch to manual focus. DOF gets larger with distance. I seem to get good results.

I realize this topic has been beaten to death. But I still haven't found a definitive answer.

I'm currently shooting a D810. My latest kick is shooting distant eagles and other birds at a local Wildlife Refuge.

I've been contemplating a D7200 for greater reach. However:

D810 = 36 mp
D7100 = 24mp

24x1.5 - 36mp

Someone over at Fred Miranda said you must 24 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 54mp

I just don't get it. Who knows the answer??

Remember, we have to take pixel pitch and pixel density into consideration as well, correct?

Thanks in advance,
Ponz

I have a D600 and a D7100. Shooting with the same lens, I definitely get better results cropping the full frame image from the D600.

The settings mentioned can be found by Going to "Menu" >"Custom Settings Menu" >"a-Auto Focus">"AF-C Priority Selection" or "AF-S Priority Selection">Set either or both to "Release"

With those settings it should take a picture no matter how low the light.

I always leave both set to release on my D600

Very nice capture. Were you shooting hand held. or on a tripod?

I would say that it is a Barred Owl based on the dark eye circles. Nice capture!

I have two Dell desktops running Win10. The one I updated to Win10 a couple of days ago - clean install - pops up this calculator (see below) when I press the Calculator button on the keyboard. The other computer - updated from Win8.1 - shows the calc icon in the Taskbar, and I have to click on it to use the calculator. It looks completely different. (Can't show it no, since Windows is doing a lengthy update.)

What do you Win10 users have for a calculator?

I prefer a calculator based on Reverse Polish Notation. I have been using my HP41CX for over 25 years. There are RPN calculator apps in the Windows store. For example: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/rpn-scientific/9wzdncrdcfx1

For the D600 go to the Menu and select the "Custom Settings Menu". Select "a Autofocus" Then select a1 for AF-C or a2 for AF-S. Set one or both to "Release". On my D600 I keep both set to release. With these settings your camera should shoot even if it isn't focused.

You'll see a lot of country.

But to be honest, I wouldn't recommend what you are doing. Instead, take the same time and money, and see Alaska. It is unique, and not like anything in the Lower-48. But the unique part is not connected by roads...

Guaranteed that what you will see is fantastic, but honestly even the part inside Alaska is no more fantastic than driving a big circle starting at home and traveling just as many miles. Everything on the highway system in Alaska, with a couple of exceptions that you are unlikely to ever even notice, is just the same here as it is there.

Fly to Anchorage, and then take another plane. Dillingham and Nome are two possible places to go, but Bethel, Kotzebue or Barrow are even better. In June I really would suggest coming to Barrow for Nalukataq (the Blanket Toss celebration). These places are uniquely part of Alaska and have almost nothing in common with the Lower-48. An entirely different way of life.

If you are really adventurous, trips to places like McGrath, Aniak, Unalakleet, Point Hope, Wainwright, Kaktovik, and/or Anuktuvuk Pass are one more step deeper into the uniqueness of culture in Alaska.

I agree. We did this trip in 2003. I would invest all of my time in Alaska and the YT. We took the Klondike highway up to Dawson and then the Top of the World highway to Alaska. The return trip was via the ACAN highway. Northern BC is spectacular as well. Enjoy!

I used to live in southeastern Arizona, and a trip to the the Desert Museum was an annual event. It is too bad you missed the raptor free-flight demonstration. Here is a shot of a Great Horn Owl I took there several years ago.

I installed it yesterday and am not able to load raw files. Adobe site says it supports my D7100 in raw. Thanks in advance for you assistance.

Your D7100 does support Raw (NEF). Are you seeing the NEF files in your SD card? If not, go to the cameras Shooting Menu, select "Image Quality" and make sure that one of the NEF(RAW) modes is selected.

I think you are mistaken. Capture NX, Capture NX2 and Capture NX-D all use non-destructive editing.
