Aha!
I stand (or sit) corrected.

Not to be confused with "applier," a device for applying a substance.

Isn’t that an “applicator?”

Scientifically speaking, I believe a “pair of pliers” is 2 levers with a common fulcrum. Therefore, a lever must also be known as a plier.
The set below would be called 2 pairs of pliers.
I could be, and probably am, wrong.

AI is not our friend. Manipulating photos is nothing new, but AI has brought deceit to a new level. It's faster, and it's more convincing. Unfortunately, we've gotten to the point where we can't believe what we see or hear. Since I don't subscribe to NewScientist, I can't read the entire article, but you get the idea. If we can believe what we see and hear, we are going in a bad direction.

Deepfakes are out of control – is it too late to stop them?
AI-manipulated audio clips, images and videos have been used to harass people, scam money and influence elections, despite efforts to rein them in.

Academic research is increasingly anthropomorphising technology – a trend that could mislead the public about how powerful artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge developments really are.
Myra Cheng and her colleagues at Stanford University, California, analysed the content of more than 655,000 academic publications released between May 2007 and September 2023, along with the headlines of approximately 14,000 news articles citing some of those papers. They rated the extent to which each text used human pronouns such as “he” and “she” rather than “it”, as well…

I totally agree!
I think it’s already too late to stop AI.

I always read the Members/Buy and Sell.
I was always wary of “Members” selling stuff who had only joined days before.

Actually, they keep whittling the price down all through the season until it’s about $30-35 near the end of the season.

Add a VPN to your quiver and you’ll be able to avoid the blackouts all season long. My local team (Red Sox) won’t be in contention for anything except last place so I won’t be subscribing to MLB this season or probably any season until ownership sees value in competing to win. Go Angels!

Actually, I have done that. Doesn’t work.
These days I use my VPN for baseball but I can’t mention what for.

Last year I stopped signing up for MLB TV. In the NY area, you can’t watch the NY Mets because YouTube Tv dropped SNY. The wife is a Mets fan. I mainly subscribed because I’m a Dodger fan. Some of the games are blocked and you’re told to sign up for another streaming service to watch.
MLB TV no more. For those of you who still use it, wait a few weeks. They start reduce the price for the remainder of the season.

Do any of you use LUTs? I keep seeing this term, and I had to look it up - appropriately, it means "Look Up Tables."

What's the story with them? Am I missing out on something?

I believe they’re also used in Microsoft Excel.

Nice new avatar. Very handsome!

Yes. The "empty" tabs were all there, but the code needed to add the graphics had been deleted. As I clicked on/opened each one, the graphic appeared - Gmail, Calendar, UHH, etc.

So…problem solved?

In yesterday's newspaper, the county executive called for "enhanced enforcement of traffic laws." Driving home this morning, there was a police car with radar. A few miles later, there was a state trooper. What I thought was interesting was that the trooper had his radar gun aimed at cars that had just passed him. If you think you are safe after you pass the radar, think again. The area where I've seen the most radar is on a four-lane, 45 mph stretch of Route 28. When it goes to two lanes, they don't bother very much. I like cruise control.

Cruise control. I almost always drive with cruise control on as long as traffic is flowing smoothly.
I especially love my “Adaptive cruise control.”

I’ve been using the paid version for years. I just install it and let it do its thing.
