Singin' a song

Cute couple! Makes me smile. Endearing and enduring picture because of the story it tells. No ice, snow or sleet is a big plus too - no ducks strolling up our way, yet...

Although the we are experiencing unduly cold weather this Spring the biological process of birds molting is well underway.
The process varies with various birds, but here's a few we've seen in the last few days

The Goldfinch is obvious.
The male Northern Cardinal is showing subtle changes.
The male Downy Woodpecker looks a bit disheveled.

Pierre, shouldn't Maine be getting birds before Ontario? We need a little tangible hope of spring here too. Your series is absolutely delightful, must be great to be outside finding signs of life again, now please send them down to me :)

I got these this morning before some much needed rain began. The cloudy conditions made it a little challenging to get the right amount of detail without getting too much grain.

These birds have been so difficult, I hope that once I get decent shots, everything else will seem easy. That may just be wishful thinking.

I had to lighten these up a little in post. Feel free to make suggestions as to how I can improve future shots.

Six keepers in one day and hummingbirds at that! Very nice, Vicki! I adore #6 :)!

Canon SX50. Edits in Picasa and PSE 12.

1. Aperture priority, ISO 80, f/7.1, 1/400 sec., equiv. 61 mm angle of view. Several edits and effects, but I forgot what

2. The sharpest 2400 mm I've achieved. In-camera 2x teleconverter, no crop. Leaned against the guardrail :) ISO 160, f/6.5, 1/320 sec.

3. Location of the eagles' nest. Aperture priority, shot in raw, but then decided to play in Buzsim and more.

Wow factor times three! The last image is amazing. Time to go pro?

Wow, Erv! What a beautiful gift! In fact it is the perfect gift, just the other day I was thinking I would love to see and photograph a robin in snow. It is such a lovely sign of hope! We sure have the snow, but no robins, yet :) Your picture is the closest thing to spring I have! And your thoughtfulness is easing the shock of this milestone! Thank you!

Two days ago on a sunny but windy day I took these 3 Seagull photos over the Coeur d' Alene Lake beach area which ranged from 350' to 650'. I am still practicing with this new Tamron lens for BIF photos. I'll get better as time goes on.
All photos were shot at 600mm.

Excellent series Regis. And thank you for including your camera settings for us learners. I'd be most interested in also hearing what focus settings you prefer for BIFs.

I don't do drugs (though given the state of the world, maybe I should...). But all the same, many of you are well aware my normal state is one toke over the line.

With this one, I think I'm way past a single toke. In fact, I can't even see the line in the rear view mirror.

Anyway, here's the Goose on drugs.

Don't worry about the line, you are traveling in a delightful direction. Love what you've done - gorgeous.

My sister, Svona, takes many, many close-ups of flower blossoms in northern Michigan, some of which she sends to me for post processing work. This is one of them. Over the years I have tried many different styles to enhance her work, and this is my latest attempt. If you have ever seen the very detailed sketches by archaeological artists as they catalog an historical site, you will be familiar with the style I was trying to emulate. This is not the most beautiful treatment of flowers, but probably the most exacting.

I wish you offered workshops on post processing, Bob. All your work impresses me as masterful.
