Thanks so much for your kind words, I am learning something new everyday about how to utilize my camera settings so I can capture the best photo. Photographing birds and other animals for me is quite challenging, it’s kind of like fishing, you never know what your going to see or catch and there is always the great shot that gets away or ends up not pleasing to the eye. After 2 years of taking pictures I am addicted to my camera.
I moved my feeders closer in so I could utilize some of the trees to photograph the birds. This turned out very well and now I have a more natural looking environment instead of photographing birds on the feeders as I have in the past. The other problem of course was the squirrels destroying the feeders and running the birds off. I think I have solved the squirrel problem with a 5 inch stove pipe five dollar investment, this can be wrapped around bird feeder stands cut at the top and folded back in to close the top, works great looks nice.i found the stove pipe idea on Utube very cheap idea compared to cost of some of the expensive anti squirrel devices that I have looked at online.
This bird bath was in high demand when the Florida temperature started to climb. An assortment of different kinds of birds lined up waiting their turn in the cool fresh bath water. I was surprised at how many different types of birds visited each day.
Thank you I am having fun trying to get better at taking pictures it’s quite challenging and a little more than i had visualized it would be when I first started.
Found this Hummer by accident sitting in a tree behind my house. I bought a hummingbird feeder and he is now feeding everyday.
Bluebirds are back looking at nesting box
This male and a Female are starting to nest in our nesting box.
Shot these birds around two feeders close to a pine forest with plenty of underbrush, they were popping in and out of the bushes eating off the ground and the Thrasher decided to cool off in the water then a little sand bath. A Towhee dropped in for a quick bite and left. I have never seen a female Towhee until now and although the lighting at the time was poor I managed to get a pretty good shot.
I have finally gotten a few Cardinals to stop by my feeder. You cannot miss these male Cardinals with their bright colors. The female Cardinals are also stopping by to feed.
The Cardinal, but not until he voiced his opinion by raising his tail feathers up in the air trying to show his disapproval of the doves uninvited presence at the feeder. I thought that I might see a fight but I think the Doves size was a factor.
Cardinal and a Dove at the same table? One has to go but voices his opinion before leaving.
Arrived early this morning to catch a Cottontail Rabbit and a few birds searching for food. I missed a shot of the brightly colored distinct cotton tailed end of the rabbit for which they are named. Maybe next time he will offer a longer look and a hop with that white tail flagging behind for a nice picture.
Sitting next to my favorite camera fishing hole I was pleasantly surprised by an alligator dining on a fish he caught along with some other wading birds that frequently visit the area.
Thanks for your advice on the photos. I am all ears when it comes to improvements or tips on improving my picture quality. Love a nice sharp picture. I knew these were to far out but tried to crop and save them.
From a distance I could not tell what he was doing with the fish but looked like he was tearing at it ,but your right they do swallow the whole fish at one time. I have not seen one catch such a large fish before, wasn’t sure if it would go down the throat easily and my view became blocked as it flopped around on the ground. I guess he was grabbing at it for proper insertion.
