I moved my feeders closer in so I could utilize some of the trees to photograph the birds. This turned out very well and now I have a more natural looking environment instead of photographing birds on the feeders as I have in the past. The other problem of course was the squirrels destroying the feeders and running the birds off. I think I have solved the squirrel problem with a 5 inch stove pipe five dollar investment, this can be wrapped around bird feeder stands cut at the top and folded back in to close the top, works great looks nice.i found the stove pipe idea on Utube very cheap idea compared to cost of some of the expensive anti squirrel devices that I have looked at online.

The second cardinal looks like it is trying to look inside the lens. Nice shots.
Thanks so much for your kind words, I am learning something new everyday about how to utilize my camera settings so I can capture the best photo. Photographing birds and other animals for me is quite challenging, it’s kind of like fishing, you never know what your going to see or catch and there is always the great shot that gets away or ends up not pleasing to the eye. After 2 years of taking pictures I am addicted to my camera.
Thank you, he is a miniature Yorkshire Terrier named Cooper. He is spoiled rotten, all my kids are gone and he is our last baby. He is 4 years old and weighs almost 5 pounds. Thanks for your kind words about my pictures. I am learning everyday since I have retired I get up early go outside around my bird feeders and start experimenting with my camera it’s been to hot outside here in Florida to travel to the parks looking for birds and animals. I will wait until it cools down then more birds should be around.

Beautiful bird photos! I used a 3-foot stovepipe on my feeder stand in Maine and it worked well (except when the bears showed up and helped themselves). But I started finding the feeders emptied out at night so I set up a trail cam. It seems the raccoons would come and one raccoon would hoist another up high enough that he could grab the top end of the stove pipe and pull himself up, and then empty the feeder for his friends below! It was pretty fun to watch...but I had to put another section of stove pipe on!
