Wow, he cuts right to the soul!! One of my favorite blues lead-in tunes is Steve Allen's "Meet Me Where They Play the Blues"... Not many versions around but for me it tell a real story. Thanks, Mark!!!
Wow, he's a Detroiter I'm not familiar with. One I am familiar with, however, is Howard Armstrong who was "rediscovered" in Detroit a number of years ago!! Thanks for a "new" (to me, anyhow) Detroiter
Two distance lenses. Readers for close-up. I've never been sorry that's what I did.
Mark, another winner!! Thanks. I'm certain you already know that the "Lost Ella Concert" with "Mack the Knife" has been found!! Thanks again. Neal
Some years ago when I was attempting to sell one of our motorhomes, I used Coltrane cuts as background music for the motorhome's virtual video tour. Not a good idea at all. I think potential buyers spent more time listening to "Trane" than watching the video... That said, I eventually sold the motorhome. Thanks for another great selection, Mark. Neal
Duct tape. Isn't the answer always duct tape?
Are you a member of the huey association? The sound is burned in to my brain.
How can you top Kessel, Byrd and Ellis?? I guess by having Pass play "Laura"... Did you know Barney backed up Julie London on one of her sultry albums (Julie Is My Name). I still have it and play it often. Well, I guess I should have said I'll again play it often when I get my Dennon amp back from the repair shop. As always I love your choices, Mark.
Here's a bit about Walter White:
Walter White has been an in-demand trumpet player for over 30 years. He's played live and in the studio with many of the top names in the industry, is a band leader, educator, commissioned composer, arranger, studio owner, engineer, and music producer.
Walter is noted for his rich sound, precision, and range on trumpet and flugelhorn. Known for quick turn-around time in the studio, effortless sight-reading, thinking quickly on feet, creating arrangements on the spot, finding solutions.
Currently lead trumpet for Mahattan Jazz Orchestra directed by David Matthews, past associations includes the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval, Mingus Big Band, Bob James, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Maynard Ferguson.
Walter's groups include Walter White & Small Medium @ Large, The Walter White Jazz Quartet, The Beige Trio (with guitarist Steve Brown), Atlantic Bridge, IFUNU (jazz fusion).
Walter is Yamaha Artist and Clinician and has held master classes at leading schools across the united States and abroad, most recently at the International trumpet Guild, Conservatorio Superior de Música de La Coruña (Spain), and as Artist-in-residence at Rutgers University.
As a studio owner, composer, and arranger, Walter has produced, recorded, and written music for a wide variety of projects from woodwind quartets to big band to full symphony orchestra. His high energy instrumental rock tracks have been heard on ABC Sports broadcasts, and his trumpet on ads for Disney World. A recent project involved arranging, scoring, and conducting strings for SONY Japan pop recordings.
I first heard him with a Michigan guitar player, Ray Kamalay, when I sponsored a winter concert series in northern Michigan. I'm not good a finding websites for things like this, but try Walter White @ All About Jazz.
He did an album in 2014 on Summit Records, titled "Most Triumphant".
Love your picks......but....are you familiar with a contemporary, Walter White?? Super sounds.
They are several years old, but still in their sealed packages with the exception of the two that have been opened. I don't see any date on the packages. All the cartridges came from Epson.
Cleaning out today I found six Epson 77 ink cartridges, four unopened and two opened, but presumably unused, I want to get rid of. They fit Epson Stylus Photo R260, 280,380/ RX580, 595, 680, and Artisan 50. 1 cyan, 1 light cyan, 2 magenta, 1 light magenta, and 1 yellow. The two magenta are the two open packages. $40 for the lot shipped to your door via USPO. Drop me a note if your're interested.
Thank you all for your replies. Information forwarded, problem solved. Keep the distance and wash your hands...
