These pictures were taken in Husavik and Akureryi. The entire trip was 10 days putting 1900 miles on a rented can. We more than doubled what most tourists see.

I recently got back from a trip to Iceland and on two nights we had good skies for the aurora. At about 11 PM my son got me up and said the lights were out. So, with camera in hand I rushed out and got the following shots. Nothing was prepared for these. Shots were with a Canon 5DmkIII, 24-105 4.0L lens, f 4.0-4.7, shutter speed from 1-3 seconds (hand held), ISO 16000 - 102500. Not the greatest shouts but, I got them on the run. Hope you enjoy. First time I saw the aurora after many tries.

If you can afford it think of a refurbished 7D or SL-1 new or refurbished. I have both and love them. 7D bigger and built like a tank. SL-1 smaller, very light weight and easy to travel with and great functionality.

I tried it with a couple of sunset shots tonight. Wow. Excellent. even better than on the SL-1. You will love the mkIII. I can't compare it to the mkII since I don't have one but it blows away my 7D, 6D and SL-1. It has become my go to camera except when weight is a factor then I go to the SL-1.

I have 5D mk III and a 40 mm pancake that I use on my SL-1. It looks wierd on the SL-1, but, to put it bluntly, it looks funny as hell on the 5D mk II. Ya need to put a bigger lens on the camera. It just does not look right. LOL.

Excellent lens. I have two of them and bought one for my daughter. I also have the 16-300 and like it better. My only comment is ... damn you Tamron for coming out with a great product forcing me to spend more money. Either one is great and are my walk around lenses for my crop cameras.

I am a gun nut. I am also a photography nut and I own two drones. First, I never fly them in populated areas of cities. Parks, where they are allowed is different even if there are people present. As to shooting it - no way. Not only should the shooter pay, but based on what I read, this constitutes negligent discharge and he should have been arrested, especially since he had done this before. He seems to be a hot head and does not need to have firearms. And this is coming from someone who is fanatically pro 2A.

I agree. Things in the past --- are the past. To me, only if some crazy white supremist in a white hood or otherwise and is ranting and raving h**e speech etc. is waving it is it a symbol of hatred. Other than that it is just a f**g that was part of our history. The same people who want this outlawed are the same ones who want anything that they don't believe in banned and to hell with everybody else. And this applies to jerks on both the left and right.

My two latest cameras are a high end Sonikanon and an entry level Canikony and I love them both. You can't go wrong with either brand. That being said, the brands you mentioned are also both very good and reliable. Make your decision based on how they feel in your hands and how much money you are budgeted for. Buy the highest quality one you can afford. Then go out and create and enjoy. Whatever you decide will be the right choice.
