I have printed from an SD card and consider it good quality. That is not my normal workflow. I usually download photos to computer for processing, then to printer from computer.
My main problem with it is the wifi disconnects about ever 6 months. Also it holds less paper.

I had same problem, never found a head. I did find a new printer on Amazing it it was $540, far too high. I ended up buying an 860. It is now as good but has worked out ok.

Google Brown recluse. That is what it looks like to me. You do not want to get bit by it as its venom kills tissue quick.

I had a bad experience by taking my professional camera and several lens on a 10 day trip to Switzerland. The weight really got to me. My neck and shoulder was always sore.
So for a 9 day adventure trip to Alaska, I picked the Canon SX-50. Much lighter, easy to handle and we loved the pictures. I even made several 4 foot panoramas from them. I will probably never take my other camera on a trip again.

I like what you said and will use it in my family.
My father went blind in both eyes over two weeks when he was 74 from a disease process. He was very depressed for about 2 months. Then he told that God encouraged him try to do all the things he had done before except drive. He said that included fishing. He was a champion fisherman. He lived to the age of 83.

My experience: Back in 2009, I planned an adventure trip to Alaska. I was determined not to take my good DSLR with all its good lenses because I had done that once in a trip to Switzerland and it about broke my arm and neck. I looked for something different and took an SX- 30. Everytime I used it I thanked myself for this selection when I saw others with their heavy cameras. The pictures were beyond my expectations for my use. I did not need professional quality. My favorite pictures are 5 panoramic pictures 12 x 40 inches. I have the others in a wall digital frame 8x10 and love the slideshow they present. I now have an SX-50 and use it more than aǹy other camera I have.

I 've gone through the same thing with an Epson 837 that is about 5 years old. I spent the better part of a day trying to fix the head. I used some special head cleaning cartridges and it worked for about 10 4x6 prints, then it went back to bad. I called a repair facility in my area that I got from Epson. The price was going to be $129 for a new head and new pads and up to $149 for labor. There Tech advised to get a new printer. I wanted a new 837 but only found about 4 of them, all prices much higher than the original. I bought an XP-860 for $199 at Amazon. It prints very well but is not as good as the 837. Also, I bet it does not last as long because of how it's made.
Get a new printer.

My experience with Dell laptops is they constantly drift, I think, because of the power settings trying to save battery. You have probably noticed a great difference of when connected to external power and the battery. Have you tried printing one of the "bad" photos to see what this does?

Hang in there, someone will have good suggestion for you. I went through lots of frustration last week with a new printer that did not come with any photo software. Got suggestion here and got best photo software I've ever had 😅

The ones I have are blue and came from Costco. They work well for me.
