I never saw this before. I think the key is the word "footage" which pertains to movies and the notation is in a hard to follow section labeled "Cinematic Versatility". So I think this only related to the movie function. I did test non-VR lenses and lenses with VR off and saw no electronic VR for stills.

The only electronic VR I see in my D7500 manual is for movie mode which I have not used yet. I did find a YouTube video that shows the difference with and without.

I started with a D5100 also and it still works very well. My wife used it for a couple of years then I bought her a D5600. She loves it because it is smaller, lighter weight, touch display, easier to use and she gets more keepers than with the D5100. I bought a D7500 and love the sub command dial, top display, and other improvements. Both use Snapbridge that I finally learned how to use. So now I can shoot with either camera, convert best raw files to .jpg and send to my cellphone for upload to Facebook. I also use Snapbridge to add location info to my D7500 pics. Both are great cameras.

Today I checked 3 different Nikon DSLRs in live view. They all showed a change in brightness of the display when using exposure compensation in M, A, S, and P modes. Each camera had slightly different functionality with the more current camera having the best functionality. I seldom use live view so this was the first time I noticed the feature.

I love my Joby Pro Camera Sling strap! https://joby.com/camera-straps/pro-sling-strap
It comes in two sizes. Watch the video. When not in use I shorten the strap to get the camera out of the way. Then quickly lower the camera for shooting. Of course I now switched to Peak Design slide strap which has other features I like and not quite so quick to lower the camera for shooting.

My wife loves her D5600 which was an upgrade from her D5100. What she likes the best is more of her images are in focus, touch screen menus make it quicker and easier to change settings and scroll through pictures. It is lighter weight and smaller. We are just now starting to use Nikon's wireless SnapBridge with the D5600.

I had almost the same problem. I can't explain exactly what happened but my issue had to do with the catalog. I have a portable hard drive with my photos and that I move between computers. My problem happened when one computer had the LR desktop app (LR6?) and the other has the newer LR CC with the upgraded catalog. Windows file explorer showed all the files were there, but they showed up quickly in LR then disappeared. The two different catalogs don't play well between the original LR and LR CC. So after much effort I now have the upgraded LR CC catalog with no issues.

The D 5600 and D7200 have the same image quality. The D 5600 is lighter and cheaper. So unless you need all the extra controls why pay more and carry around a much heavier camera?

The D5600 has touch screen menus and the AF-P lenses in the kit are much lighter than AF-S lenses. My spouse loves the D5600 because of the light weight and the focusing is much better than her old D5100.

I think BBF, especially for bird photography, is a great tool! I’m so used to it now, I can’t imagine not having it.

I agree. The BBF downsides are you have to remember to focus, muscle memory for different cameras has the button in different places and you can't pass the camera to someone else with some difficulty. BBF is a great tool with point focus to get the bird among the leaves or shoot through fences.

Thanks for all the comments! Very helpful. Yes this will be my first experience in Yellowstone. I will probably stick with my D600 and 200-500 and normal lens. And wife with her D5600 and kit telephoto. If I need to, I can let her use the 200-500 to get closer. The video was great! Thanks again to all.

My family have a Nikon D600 full frame (FF) and D5600 APS-C cameras, both with kit telephoto zoom VR to 300mm lenses and both 24 MP. I also have a FF Nikon 200-500 f5.6 VR telephoto. What combination of camera and lens would provide the best quality long telephoto images (that cover the same area) to use for my trip to Yellowstone the 1st week in May and why? I cannot decide.
Using the same lens, the FF image would have to be cropped to cover the same area as the APS-C. But f5.6 on the 200-500mm FF would be much less on the APS-C (f8.4?). Also the FF may have less noise. Would it be much better with a D7500 at 20MP and maybe less noise than the D5600?

I used manual focus twice recently. Once shooting through glass. I wanted the glass in focus and the camera focused on the background. Another time the foreground was a fence and I wanted the background in focus. In both cases to get my shot I needed to manual focus.
