I use HDR quite often. (Photomatix) I envy your picture for the splendid contrast of three or four dominant colors. And the composition (hybrid of thirds) is quite good.
Carry on and have good fun with HDR.
I have been using the CANON 24-105mm f/4 L lens on a CANON D-60 for two years. I am totally satisfied with this lash-up and it is a good combo for all around shooting. Canon has lowered the price on this lens and I consider it a bargain for under $700. Another interesting CANON lens is the so-called "pancake" 40mm f/2.8. Can be had for about $100. A good bargain option for low-light and is non-obtrusive on a DSL camera frame.

DITTO - Used the "pancake" (PC) in Vienna this summer for indoor orchestral performances .... low light. Great results. Be certain to "goose" the ISO. Outdoors light with the "pancake" for quick shots of community environment works good because the "pancake" does not intimidate nearby persons. For the price ... small risk, great promise!
I am using Photo Elements 10. No problem opening RAW files. :)
I have used the CANON 60D for two years. Excellent performance. Versus the 7D, which is a metal shell instead of plastic for the 60D, the 7D is more waterproof and shock-proof.
On the other hand, the 60 has an articulating 3"view screen and also provides wireless capability for firing external slaved flash unit such as the EX560ii. I prefer the 60D for my style of photography. If CANON comes out with a camera similar to the 7D with articulating view screen, wireless flash capabilities and FULL FRAME, I'd opt for this future possibility.
