The local camera shop has the Canon 60D on sale. I would like opinions from those of you who have used this one. I mentioned in my intro I've been thinking of getting the Canon 70D when it comes out, but now I'm wondering if the 60D will make me just as happy. I'm not very experienced but still want a really good camera that will give me quality pics. With the price difference I could put the money toward a macro lense. If I know who uses the 60D I could view your pics. Thanks.

If your only concern is the IQ, then don't worry. It almost doesn't matter what kind of camera you're using, if you know how to use it and put a good lens in front of it, it will take good pictures.

There will always be a sale. The more important question is what do you want from the camera and what do you want to shoot with it?

The 60D is a great camera and with the 70D out you will continue to see sales. The 70D is newer and has an amazing auto-focus method for video, but again, what do you need?

If you are set on these two this may help too: http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-70D-vs-Canon_EOS_60D

Hi Renchelle!

I use a 60D. Click on the flickr link in signature below. Every photo in that account was produced with the Canon 60D.

Good luck!

Thanks speters, I kinda had the idea the lenses would make a difference. I just want to start with good basics and work my way up. Any advice about lenses for the Canon. I would like to shoot landscape, macro and wild animals(nature). I cannot afford the really expensive ones but am willing to save for awhile for a decent one.

You may be bombarded with lens suggestions. The best advice should include getting EF lenses that will work on a 60D and other crop sensors as well as full-frame cameras. However, EF-S lenses are specially designed by Canon for cameras using cropped sensors. The informal consensus I've observed is the 10-22mm wide-angle and 60mm macro are the best using the EF-S mount. (I have both and use them extensively.)

Take the suggestions you get and consider buying used rather than new. The L lenses are built to last forever and the used ones I've obtained from KEH and personal sales have all been as good as new but not at the new price.

Crichmond, Hey I just realized something. Did you take those pics or was it someone else?

Hi Renchelle!

Thanks for the kind comments!

Yes, they are all mine. Unless someone else has inhabited this body.

I was behind the camera every single click. It is my work.

Should you buy the 60D, I would be happy to share my lens info as well.

Happy shooting!

I have a 60d and am happy with it. If I didn't own it, I'd probably wait for the release of the 70d.
