Hey Doc ..... you answered your own question ..... the shooter was stopped by an armed deputy ..... the only time shootings are in the media spotlight is when it benefits the anti-gun folks .....

Great point Wabbit

Are you telling me the media only reports what benefits them?

The shock, the horror. How could this be?

The advertising and support dollars must be huge!

Mate if all guns were confisticated, you could still obtain one.

Absolutely agree

How many decades have marihuana, cocaine, heroin, etc. been illegal? If you are resourceful can you purchase these items? Are these jailable offenses? Absolutely, so confiscating all guns does not eliminate access to them, making possession illegal is not going to eliminate them.

The only fear I had in posting this will most likely come true, which is the

Guns don't kill people
People kill people

Debate

But actually a gun buy itself doesn't kill anyone, as a person that wants to shoot someone but doesn't have a gun doesn't kill anyone, ah so guns kill people! But I believe we all know that it's not the gun, it's the bullet, no the casing, or is it the gunpowder. It's all of these components. And it's just not any random person either, it's a very troubled person.

It's the senseless killing of innocent people that truly gets to me, be it by gun, drunk driver, a drug dealer adding chemicals to drugs so they can make more $, baseball bats, knives, hockey sticks, romantic walks along cliffs, etc.

I am in my mid 50's, growing up I knew my neighbors parents and kids, we got together almost daily at times, you knew when someone was bothered, nowadays maybe it's just me and where I live, but I am lucky if I can get a wave out of a neighbor, let alone any face time with them, I rarely see kids out playing with others, instead they play inside with video games. I will not go down the road of types of games though I do believe certain types of games do desensitize our youth. Our economy is such that both parents need to work to make ends meet unless you're one of the fortunate ones, so our kids are not really being raised by us. Corporal punishment has been taken out of the schools, it's child abuse to spank your child, etc. Many kids know this and use this as a direct threat back. We live in a world of immediacy now, the day my second son was born I was at work (construction) I came home to my father-in-law sleeping on the couch and was told my wife was at the hospital giving birth. Nowadays, while I am at work, I get an email, text or call telling me the suns out (okay in Washington in the winter that's a big deal) but my point being its immediate. I could go on and on.

I am not saying anyone is right or wrong in your opinions, all I am saying is I think humanity in general is losing that interpersonal touch as we go through each day, texting, emailing, playing video games, watching 1587 channels on tv, etc. We are losing this touch because of dozens of mitigating factors.

I know someone will call me a moron or an idiot, I know someone will agree, I know someone will disagree.

Lets all just hope 2013 is a great year (politics aside, but maybe they can even get their act together)

Depends on which is more important to you, the faster lens for low-light situations or the extra reach of the SX50 which would make me take the SX50 any day since it is also quite a bit less expensive.

See that's my problem is leaving that reach, as strange as it may sound the $100 or so delta between the two I don't care about. And if Nikon would have used their head and had Raw it would be a no brainier.

Thanks

I have played with and shot both extensively. I would go with the Lumix. Much better low light, exceptional video,

Edit title box is on left side of screen below and left of Title

Thanks, I have been leaning that direction, I guess I have a hard time leaving the reach of the SX50.

Edit option must not show on iPad.

Unless I am missing something in my research on Bridge Cameras I have narrowed the choice down to Panasonic Lumix FZ200 or Canon Powershot SX50 HS. I would have included the Nikon Coolpix P510 but it does not shoot in Raw.

So before I head out and buy one of these I thought I would get your thoughts.

Let me know

Thanks

And if someone could tell me how to correct Lummox in the title that would be great!

You know this whole Left and Right deal is fairly simple to figure out.

Congress and Senate folks were pushed through school so fast they missed the "L" and "R" shoe marking day, so they are all just confused.

The solution is to stop putting the same folks back into office, last I looked they are not self nominated.

But you might want to check your tripod, it looks like one of the legs might have slipped by looking at your horizons :-D

Awesome shots, my lab is so use to the camera when I take it out I swear he starts to pose.

One thing I noticed when reviewing photos is, when the focus is on the eyes, the lighting is perfect as is the angle of the shot (dog looking right at you) if you zoom in on their pupils guess what you see? Yeah yeah I know it's not rocket science but its still amazing.

Thanks for sharing

?..............Which one do you like best and why (or not like at all)? Thanks so much.

I like the first picture better than the second. The first is a moving dynamic image with interest and impact. I might experiment and see how it looks with the bright area on the right cropped out or reduced.

The second photo is well done but not as interesting as the first and the blurred dog does not add but distracts from the main subject.

This is just my opinion and how my eyes view the scene, the bottom line is you have two fine images worth saving. 8-)

Snoqualmie Falls - a sweet place, if the wind is calm you might be able to avoid mist on your lens too.

I need to dig through some photos and see if I can find an early spring heavy rain and quick snow melt photo. It's huge water.

Nice recovery on the photo.
