I have looked at a number of websites recently.
Tried several on a trial basis.
Am now giving 'jAlbum' an extended trial.
'jAlbum' is essentially a 'gallery'in which to display photos, and not a selling site, although you can buy into that possibility if you want to upgrade.
Sent you a pm

Windy, damp, no sun, about 12 degrees here too.
And the dog had me up twice in the night!

Great Summer Sunday in Great Britain.

And you think it is bad now?
I can't see things getting any better in the next ten years, probably worse - fewer jobs and ageing population!
Have you tried to buy a British shovel recently?

I think what 'birdpix' has written makes a lot of sense.
Taking pictures is supposed to be 'fun' not a 'chore' or 'work'. Taking pictures and being able to see the results is what matters in the first place. Experience tells me that 'youngsters' see the world in a completely different way to adults. What 'she' will want to take pictures of is in all probablity not what you would choose.
'jerryc41' has a salutory warning about being alone with her. Avoid any physical contact and that is going to be difficult if looking at results on camera screen or computer.
As I write this I realise that I don't understand why the parent wants to spend $40 an hour on her child being taught photography. Does the girl want to take pictures or is this a parent's imposed activity? I would want to know a lot more before I got involved.

I've had someone use an opened up newspaper before now.

I've been 'caught' by the camera car. Came up our lane while I was walking my two dogs and then caught me a second time as the car came back. Makes interesting viewing! Blotted out my face which is always a good thing, but didn't do the same for the dogs!

Has anyone worked out how long it's going to take to get round to #39 jimni2001? I'n not very good at 'sums' but if each person has Hobo or Drifter for a week or two, and then uses the post for the transfer ......
Looks to me that the list needs to be split into two at least - or perhaps Hobo or Drifter have a friend who can join them. (So the list gets split three ways)
Just a thought and an idea - after all what do I know about anything these days?

Leica 1 with your number in sequence 21611 - 34450 dated 1930. (Rogliatti list in 'Leica - The First Fifty Years'.

Camera body will need a service and probably new curtains.
Lens probably needs a good clean and lub.
Both those will cost you possibly $300+.
If you don't intend to use it I would have it for display on your desk or bookcase - nice that it has some history.

Import into 'Irfan' where resizing is relatively intuitive, and you can add borders but also adjust canvas size. I use both Picasa and Infan.

Pity the petition doesn't seem to petition for anything - just a personal statement, in my opinion.

If some of the guys on this forum think they will only get good pictures with expensive cameras they are deluding themselves. The person who pushes the camera button is the most improtant element in the picture making. Your button pushing looks pretty good to me especially that first shot.
Bridge cameras, like your Panasonic, make a great deal of sense - easy to carry and pretty unobtrusive. I have an even older version, an FZ5, and am still very pleased with results.

What are you complaining about?
Insurance on just one of my cars is over $300 equivalent for the year, two drivers, 5000 miles, full 'no claim' bonus! The car - a standard production Skoda Octavia diesel over 7 years old!

EstherP has the solution - add strips of white to one of the edges to get the proportions as you want them.
In 'IRFAN' there is 'change canvas size' which allows for this. I imagine it's a fairly standard menu item in other programs.
Using this keeps all of your original image, allows for commercial printing to the printer's fixed proportions, and although there is a bit of 'arithmetic' involved, works.
This is my solution.
When prints are returned I cut off the unwanted 'edge'.
