I have seen so many knock downs for your president on this form, I am beginning to worry.
Other presidents have been assassinated for much less, maybe it is time.

First, it looks like your white balance was set to tungsten, giving you the blue cast to the shadow. If you are not shooting in RAW, you have to pay closer attention to your white balance. If this was lighted with natural sunlight, you should have set your white balance to sunlight. Try keeping you white balance set to AWB in your camera in case you forget to set it for a specific shot. At least that way you have a chance of the camera getting the white balance right.
In PP, I would just add a layer, fill the blue shadow with black and set the opacity low enough to allow the light areas to show through, giving you a range of black to gray without losing the highlights.
First, it looks like your white balance was set to... (show quote)

I would have thought that one should pay attention whether they shoot jpg or Raw. Shooting in raw is not an excuse to get lazy.

The laptop is the better choice for editing. The Tablet though can be handy though, I use one when out and about along with one of the eye-Fi sd cards in the camera. this card transfers a copy of the file to the tablet for easier viewing at the time, and the images can then be transferred to the laptop or desktop for editing later.

Very nicely done.
A small suggestion, being as we have WW111, and all the strikes are from the sky, it suggests, attack from outer space, so why not some machine in the background, AKA, War of the worlds.

Don't know if this is true but wish our mob would show a bit of intestinal fortitude like this....

UPDATE - Moving toOklahoma?

Oklahoma has its weather issues but moving to Oklahoma?

Oklahoma is the only state that Obama did not win or even carry one county in the last election. While everyone is focusing on Arizonas new law, look what Oklahoma has been doing!

An update from Oklahoma: Oklahoma passed, 37 to 9, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values! (HB 1330) Guess what ... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. (HB 1804). This was against the advice of the Federal Government and the ACLU; they said it would be a mistake. Guess what ...Oklahoma did it anyway.

Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegal's to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Pelosi said it was unconstitutional. (SB 1102) Guess what ... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas,
Montana, and Utah as the only states to do so. More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, both Carolinas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. (HJR 1003)

The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I'm sure that was a setback for the criminals. The liberals didn't like it. But ... Guess what ... Oklahoma did it anyway.

Just this month, the state has voted and passed a law that
ALL drivers license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language. They have been called racist for doing this, but the fact is that ALL of the road signs are in English only. If you want to drive in Oklahoma, you must read and write English. Really simple. By the way, the liberals don't like any of this either. Guess what ... who cares ... Oklahoma is doing it anyway.

Don't go bawling me out here, I am only asking the questing.
Personally I don't generally believe this stuff posted around the internet, but this interested me enough to hope someone has some Balls to do it. Ernie

Ernie,
Very impressive and nice looking workmanship. I'd be interested in seeing a photo in which these were the primary source for lighting.

Thanks Bob, for your nice coments

Do you have specific situations planned, where a single 1/millionth of a second strobe is needed to freeze motion?

After capturing a bullet hitting an apple, a bullet tearing a playing card, and a bullet in a water balloon, I ran-out of reasons for high-speed strobe photography. As a class assignment, it was fun, but had very limited practical applications.

We are all interested in seeing your results from your air gap flash.
Douglass,
As I mentioned at the start, I have not yet tried these, apart from initials testing.
My house does not have the room for such setups, so I built a temporary studio in the back yard for this type of shot, but it was blown apart by high winds recently, and I am in the process of rebuilding, much stronger I hope, when that is done, then you will see some shots.
AS for practical applications, none, other than getting enjoyment from my hobby, which for me, that is all it is.
Yes I have done all those things you mention, using normal strobes, but the explosions, and bullets are blurred, I want to try and change that, and stop all the action.
I what to get images of blowing up fruit and the like and anything else that comes to mind, using fireworks.
Maybe not yours and anybody else s cup of tea, But I get fun out of it. I have done all those things like portraits, landscapes etc., for me this is something different.
Plus, I also get the enjoyment in building these and other things that go along with it.

You spent a considerable amount of time, and what do you have? They do not look very portable. Will they be synced to the camera. can power output be changed, TTL function. How are you going to use t hem? For well under $200 dollars you can purchase a flash designed for your camera and will have more features that you will ever use. Let us know how these will work.

Ahhh, It is quite obvious that you do not read previous posts, I have already answered these questions.
It is not meant to replace other flashes, and having 10 0f them I am well aware of there features.
There use is for things that your normal flash units can't do

I wouldn't try getting on a commercial airliner with that.

Was this just something to do on a rainy afternoon? Did you find plans for it? Are you in a related business?

jerry
You could be right there Jerry.
Yep you could say something for a rainy day.
No I have nothing to do with any business, I am retired, my electronic interest stems from many years as a Ham Radio Operator. This all purely a hobby for me.

I was thinking more along the lines of High-Speed Sync as discussed here: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-74372-1.html

Even my lowly Nikon SB-600 speedlight at low power, will recycle fast enough to discharge five times during a 1/500-sec or 1/1000-second exposure.
The shorter the flash duration, the quicker the repeat time.

Ok, I doubt it would do that, My camera has a sync speed of 160 and that works fine.
This is meant for the one of high speed flash, can your SB-600 stop a bullet, this one can.
You have to take in account that that large capacitor takes some charging, it holds 25,000 volts, it virtually discharges all that power to achieve the high speed.

What is their repeat rate?

I am assuming you mean time for recharging the capacitor, can't give you an exact time but it would be pretty close to a normal flash.
One thing that must be understood with these units, they are not very portable, so there is not much worry about battery drain.
Not something we could take much further than the backyard.

just a point of interest, here are a couple of images showing an Air gap flash I recently built, in fact I built two, for far less than I could have paid for a commercially built one.

#1 shows the completed unit.
#2 shows the flash tube, a little hard ti see, due to the reflections in the mirror reflector.

I have no means of checking this, but they are supposed to have a flash duration of 1/1000,000ths, but I can say, they are quick, and give a nice loud crack when triggered.
I have not got around to trying them out properly yet. Ernie

So, I trust you mean the Pommie Brit Army...? :)
