Excellent shots! Very good color and all are sharp. I think #1 has to be my choice, but it is close! Good eye. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! I give God credit for the scenery and my d3100 credit for the color and sharpness. I guess I at least deserve credit for which of my pictures to post, although I'm hard pressed to say what my favorite would be. *G*

I wonder how many people visit Las Vegas and fail to notice the beauty of the surroundings. Red Rock Canyon is an easy drive from Vegas, and it's gorgeous. It's situated in the Mojave Desert.
Roger, your shots are excellent. if you want really good shots of red rocks, try Sedona, AZ You will see the granddaddy of all red rock mountains.
That sounds WONDERFUL. Thanks for the suggestion. *S*

been there a few times, next time your out there you should go up to valley of fire state park just north of vegas, was out there last week great place to visit also
I'll be sure to ask my stepdaughter about that. Unfortunately, it'll probably be years before we head west again. She's young. Let her come visit US. *G*

It's probably one of the least visited parks. I think because the entry fee is so steep for what you get.
I'm not sure what we paid. I think my stepdaughter paid, and she may have gotten a discount because she's a NV resident. It's a real shame that the regular fee might keep people from coming, though. *sigh*

I have never been to the US but those are very interesting rock formations and great photos.
Thanks. I must admit I'd never seen anything like it, either.

Very good candid shots there....
Thanks so much. It was a really interesting event. In spite of thousands of people, I was able to get close enough to the front that the 55-200mm lens was almost too much when Mr. Ryan came around greeting people afterwards. I didn't post them, but I have a picture from my left before he reached me and from my right after he got far enough past me.

This is not a comment on the candidate but I like the first shot the most.
I kind of like that first one myself. Thanks!
Don't worry. I'm not trying to get political here, but I did want to share some of my better pictures from the Republican Victory Rally at the Richmond (VA) airport last Friday. Originally, Mitt Romney was to appear along with Paul Ryan, but Mr. Romney thought visiting the hurricane victims was more important.

Cool shots. Like the upside down one best. Looks like a lot of fun photographing there.
Glad you liked them.
Definitely fun to photograph. I've finally started using my own choice of shutter speeds, and I can tell the difference on the pix of moving rides.
It's nice to have season passes to Kings Dominion, an amusement park just off Rt. 95 twelve miles up the road from us. I've found it's a great place to practice my photography--when I'm not in the mood to go on the milder rides.
But roller coasters and other high rides are not my thing for sure.

I'm not even jealous!
Taken from the top of park's Eiffel Tower, which is itself high enough to make me nervous!

Me upside down? I don't even like sleeping on my back!
But this one looks fun
We had a great turn out at our community "Neighborhood Night Out," and these three pictures are just three of many. Turned out I and my d-3100 were competing with the property manager's d-5000! *L* I haven't seen her pix yet, though.
Had to settle for poor quality just to get this hilarious shot
Wish I could have got her just as she slid into the water, but still quite satisfied

My dear wife worked on this project for several months, and it looks great. I wanted to show her handiwork off to you.
FYI: Kathleen is 5'5"
I tried posting this yesterday, but something messed up. So I'll try again today. Both of these pictures came from our recent trip to Sunset Beach, NC. The animal looks a little like a rabbit, but has a tail like a rat (best we can tell). It may very well be a common animal we just don't recognize when we see it. The other picture is of birds that run away from the incoming water and then chase after it when it recedes again. Quite amusing to watch.
