When I was a docent at the railroad museum, many of our visitors were autistic. Parents and teachers took time to teach me how to talk to them; learn names, get to their level, speak softly, respect their space, really care, etc. Some were more knowledgeable than I was. When one left, I was unable to gauge the level of interest I had raised or knowledge I had imparted. But I must say, I enjoyed the visits and felt better all day for the opportunity. And I learned a lot from some of them!

Oh, I see; it has nothing to do with photography. There's a name for that kind of titling, but I can't remember it.

Interesting, but it looks terribly awkward.
I'm sorry, but I cannot understand what the subject matter has to do with the title.

Chit-Chat worthy at best!
I don't know anything about Canon's repair service. I don't even own a Canon. I sent my last one to the electronics cycling center several years ago after many years of hard use. I have owned many Canons throughout my life, including the top-of-the-line EOS 1n. I have never needed service, but used a local lab that had authorization certificates covering an entire wall, including Canon. The only time I used that lab was for CLA's. I've never had a Canon fail. No, I don't keep a camera until it fails; I am the type of person who was fortunate enough to be able to trade cameras in (including my moronic decision to let my Leica M6 go) for cameras with different features, formats or unique abilities. I even had a Alpa for one week before a lawsuit necessitated returning it (magnificent camera, but HEAVY). Any, back to the subject. As stated above, I never had a Canon fail (have had a few CLA'd); no significant problems. The only complaint I had about Canon was their decision to call the lower end cameras "Rebels", a term that might have been marked "cheap, plastics, beginners toy camera". Yeah, I know that was 10% the name and 90% ego. Anyway, in conclusion, I have never heard anything had about Canon's service and, until prove wrong, would trust them with any repair, even (especially?) if they kept in six month and only charged me only $180!

I just had my first bad experience with Canon. I was at the beach for a photo surf shoot, and the camera shutter just kept going off. Pulled the battery out to soft reset, no solution. Call Canon service, they tell me the same thing, no solution
They recommend sending the camera in for repair. It will be fixed and I will have a 6 month warranty. I just got it back from being refurbished, fully repaired and perfect in JANUARY! To the tune of $180. Then the see the camera is no longer supported for repair, but they offered $30 off my next purchase through them
I was livid. This is supposed to be a world class company. I expected something more like: We are so sorry to hear about this, let us apply the $180 you have already spent toward your next purchase with us".
The representative did offer a cheaper alternative than new, REFURBISHED, they come with a 6 month warranty. Felt like I have been there and done that
JUST DISGUSTED WITH CANON. BUYER BEWARE

When did you send it in? What year purchased? Original message is a bit disjointed and difficult to understand. Maybe include a more chronologically specific and detailed narrative? Thank you.

If it has a rangefinder like the Leica then it's a rangefinder. Live view is a feature shared by many types of cameras including mirrorless, DSLR and Digital Rangefinder.
Then I'll go one stop farther. I wouldn't buy a DSLR or a mitrorless. I'd buy a full frame digital rangefinder.
Unless the reviewer is identified sufficiently for me to make personal contact and discuss the review with the actual reviewer, I don't trust any reviews at all, period!!!
How would y'all describe the rangefinder style cameras like the Leica M10?

A situation has occurred a number of times for me where I attach my flash to the camera and it works fine in TTL, but the camera wonβt fire with the flash in manual mode. Removing and reattaching the flash seems to be the only solution. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or if anyone has a suggestion / recommendation on how to go about getting it corrected.
Contact alignment is critical in dedicated flashes. You might try experimenting with moving the flash back and forth in the mount to see if that makes any difference. Also, make sure that the contacts on both the flash and camera are clean and clear of debris Everytime you mount the flash.

I so seldom leave the house without it, but today I did. I ended up working near the riverfront in Evansville and heard a commotion/gunfire over the levee. I walked up the levee and saw LST 325 returning from a cruise and she was firing her bow cannon to alert Evansville that she was home.
She was not built at the LST shipyard in Evansville, but rather in Philadelphia, PA. Evansville is now her home port. Some Info:
The ship operated in the North Africa area and participated in the invasions at Gela, Sicily and Salerno, Italy. On 6 June 1944, LST-325 was part of the largest armada in history by participating in the Normandy Landings at Omaha Beach.
Between June 1944 and April 1945 LST-325 made 43 trips between England and France, unloading at Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno and the city of Rouen on the Seine River. Twice they carried loads of ammunition from Omaha Beach to St. Michel on the western shore of the Cotentin peninsula for the Army besieging the port city of Brest. On 28 December 1944 the LST-325 helped rescue over 700 men from the troop transport Empire Javelin that had been torpedoed off the coast of France. Lt. Comdr. Mosier was awarded the Bronze Star for this rescue.
All I had was my phone, but as the saying goes. Just get the shot and see what happens. Well, I got the shot, and I sure missed having my DSLR....

Impressive, especially with the provenance.
