The "s" in "https" needs to be removed. That way it will post as a functioning link. The "s" means that the connection is "secured". Here it is:

Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She writes:
Dear Grand-daughter,
The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a
'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker ..

I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a
thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting.

So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper..

Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.

I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in
thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the
light had changed.

It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't
honked, I'd never have noticed.

I found that lots of people love Jesus!

While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy,
and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of
God!'

'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!'

What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!

Everyone started honking!

I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those
loving people.

I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!
;
There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him
yelling something about a sunny beach.

I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger
stuck up in the air.

I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant.

He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.

Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window
and gave him the good luck sign right back.

My grandson burst out laughing.

Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!!

A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that
they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.

I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is
when I noticed the light had changed.

So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on
through the intersection.

I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection
before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave
them after all the love we had shared.

So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the
Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord
for such wonderful folks!!

Will write again soon,

Love,
Grandma

Best advice is to take the camera out and shoot, shoot, shoot.

Warning! Don't let the technical side of photography bog you down. This is a very technological art and if you faithfully read this forum you could get discouraged. Remember, it is like eating an elephant -- one bite at a time. Start with the automated features for exposure and focus and get comfortable with your camera. Then start to venture into the "creative" features. It just gets better as you go.

There is a wealth of videos in youtube and elsewhere that are free and will help you along. If I were to say buy one book I would recommend Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure". It is available in stores and on Amazon.

You have a great adventure in front of you. Enjoy the heck out of it!

Dpullum I think it is well worth it for the price, not sure if you get the extras in the trial version, "Perfectly Clear" and "Reallusion Face Filter 3"

They are part of the "Ultimate" version of PaintShop Pro. It is slightly more than the "regular" version but well worth the difference. They do come with the pre-release version that is being offered now.

The release of PSP X6 is a "pre-release" of the new version available for current registered owners. The "public" release will be early September. The email mentions that the offer is good only until Sept 3 so you can guess that the public release will be right after that.

Hi hotglassguy
I took the plunge & bought it as the expiry time was nearly up. Installed it and had a peep at it and it seems to do similarly things to CS5, but more prettily. Not so good with adjusting uprights or cloning, 2 of the tools I use frequently. Has a pretty good HDR feature for those who don't have a separate software. Features may improve with updates which may be discounted due to having a previous version. Thanks for the introduction and information.

You are welcome Chinaman. Glad that you went ahead and bought it. And you are correct about updates. They have always been discounted. Don't know if you use any plugins but if you do you will find they will probably work with PSP. I use Topaz, NIK Color Effects 3, and Wire Worm which I often use rather than PSP's "Scratch Remover". Enjoy it in good health!

A further note about price: The $29.99 is for a new copy of PSP x5. If you have an earlier version the upgrade price is $19.99!

Thanks for answering back so quickly. One more question. Does the cloning of areas with straight lines/bars as visible and easy as CS5? You know how CS5 shows up where the lines are going to be within the brush circle.

It doesn't show them in a preview manner. You can see where the "replacement" is coming from and eyeball it, If you pick from an area that is in line with the line you are concerned with you can usually do pretty well.

Hi hotglassguy
Can you tell me if it can do the same stuff as PSCS5? Especially opening Canon RAW files, different selection tools, channel conversions to B&W, distort and warp tools controlled sharpening, non-destructive adjustments of the image, panorama stitching, photo stacking, replace sky or background easily. I take it that it has layers and all sorts of filters, plug-ins and actions.
I will switch when Adobe goes cloudy. This seems a good time to get it. Thanks very much.

Hi Chinaman

PSP pretty much has the same abilities as PSCS5. The biggest difference I see in my work is there aren't the content aware fill/move features. Some of the tools are a little easier as they seem to need fewer steps to use. Think you will find it very useful at a much better price.

Sandhill cranes typically will raise just one chick. Usually they lay two eggs and, if both hatch, will only pay attention to the stronger chick. We learned that down in Florida there are rescue groups that watch for this to happen and then attempt to distract the parents and rescue the neglected chick.
