We learned that down in Florida there are rescue groups that watch for this to happen and then attempt to distract the parents and rescue the neglected chick.
Thank you for your comment and the parents doted over both chicks. If you search SANDHILL CRANE FAMILY you will see earlier pictures from the day they were born up until about 10 days ago. Both colts were doing just fine ... something bad happened.
