I use video about 25% of the time. It is not like doing 8mm where you had to set up a screen and projector, turn out the lights and sit in the dark watching silent movies. When we go to Yellowstone, e.g., I take a lot of photos. But I also do three or four videos, which I run straight from the SD card in a laptop connected to the hdmi on my large screen TV and the geysers and crowds and panaramic shot that ends on the prism hot pool is what is really enjoyed and gives a feeling of what it is like to be there. If you don't like video for some reason, then don't use it. But you really should give it a try. It is much like still photography where as you gain experience and learn simple techniques, you can make fine videos that will capture the feel of the experience, rather than just the look of it.
