They above mentioned Carrier. I have had a Carrier system since last Fall, with the A.C. unit charged this Spring. The system is their 21 SEER rated system, and has a two speed fan. After the compressor shuts off, the fan does runs for a minute or two on slow speed, but then shuts down. Interestingly, and maybe related, I was talking to the installer as he was wiring up the unit. He asked me how I wanted to have the system operate. My choices were, like a traditional unit, meaning fan comes on and shuts off with the compressor, or two speed, again with the compressor, or two speed delayed shut off, or fan runs continuously. I chose the third option, but the last option, compressor runs continuously option may mean your installed wired it up to run continuously, in essence putting a jumper wire in to bypass the switch on your thermostat for auto/fan. Someone mentioned the green wire, which is true.
I have a Nest thermostat, and it has a fan run feature which can be set for the time of day, duration, or auto. If you have a fancier thermostat unit, be it a Nest or the high end model thermostat from Carrier, you too may have the fan set on a schedule to run, and not even know it.
As for the Carrier unit itself, I love it. Does a much better job than my old unit, installed in 1988.

Geez, now why didn't I think of this. I went through the Cape May Canal in NJ with a mast of 53 feet. The bridge is 55 at mean high tide. Well, not so, the clearance of the bridge was probably 52'11". I took off the masthead light, which isn't easy to get replaced.

Haha, ok, well sort of. First, you don't have to buy an expensive camera. You don't have to buy a computer as you probably already have one, or you already own a pad of some sort. You don't have to buy a printer, why not just look at the pictures on your pad or computer. Software is available for free. In fact, you don't even have to buy the camera, you have one in your phone. As for memory, your phone has memory, so does your already owned computer, so you probably don't need any more memory. And if you do want a camera which you don't own yet, then the cost of the camera is a wash whether you buy film or digital, and you can get them with about the same features for the same price. No you do not need any extra lens if you buy a point and shoot.

Yes, true, the smoke makes for better sunsets. We get really nice sunsets where I am, the sun is often seen through a layer of exhaust from the New Jersey Turnpike. I have a sailboat here and often times when I go off shore a few miles, you can see the brown smoke coming off the land, all from exhaust or other emitting sources. But it's beautiful right?

Yes, much rather have a coal fired power plant or oil refinery on the horizon.

Too bad these huge ships can't install nuke power like aircraft carriers. I guess the cost is prohibitive, and then there is the threat of being threatened.

Go with the 5d. Otherwise, you might buy the 50D and have buyers remorse the first time you see someone with the 5DIII. I have the 5DIII and love it. I will upgrade to the 5D4 when it comes out. I also considered the 5DS with 50 mp, but the guy at the camera shop convinced me it's better to have the 5D4 if and when it comes out.

Very please so far. Focus speed is find, perhaps a bit slower than the Canon 28-70 L, but still very acceptable. Sharp pictures. It was $800 cheaper, so I went for it.

Definitely 16gb, and the I7 processor. solid state is a great add.
But one mentioned the memorykeeper app. I use freememory. Either way, what you will find is your RAM contantly fills up with junk, occasionally gets purged by itself, but these apps will give you an indication about when your RAM fills up. With photo software I have experienced a number of issues. First, shut down your browser software. It can use a lot of RAM, particularly if you have a lot of tabs active. Second, if you have a lot of thumbnail pictures open at a time, you will consume ram. Break down your folders into smaller pieces so every time you open a folder of pictures you are not opening up hundreds of thumbnails. What you will find too is even though you close a picture after processing, it somehow remains partially open in RAM. Those free memory apps dump these from memory completely.

If I am starting a session to process photos, I usually restart my computer too. It helps to start from a clean place RAM wise.

Also, if you are using Adobe Bridge, dump the cache frequently. It too fills up, and may drain RAM resources.

Thoughts anyway.

Like a lot of things, Topaz is just a tool. I use Topaz adjust a lot, as well as denoise. I just got Impression. I have tinkered with the others, but have not had the time to learn all the features. It is great overall, definitely worth it from my vantage point.

Though the Nikon 810 has less mp than the new Canon, can anyone with the 810 or 800 tell us what their experience is with lenses? Did you have to go to much faster lenses, and if so, which ones did you find work best?

Fire? Hmmmm. Unlikely, I would say far less than a tank full of high octane gas or nitro methane spilled all over the road.

If your state allows net metering, there is no reason for the battery system, just the solar panels and associated hardware to connect back to the power companies lines. But, if you are planning on going off the grid, meaning no power from the utility, or are looking for something to help get you through power outages, then the battery systems make sense. It's not unlike spending $8000-$10,000 for generator system including the generator cost, hook up, permits etc.. Not everything is done purely on cost justification. No one justifies a natural gas generator on cost. It's done purely on having power when the utility does not. For some people this is very important. Consider a person who has an oxygen system, or has small children, or has to work at home with a computer. We had a woman in NJ after Sandy install a generator. She is near 70, lives alone, and wants backup purely for safety sake.

I'm sure many of you have seen this. 320 gigapixel shots. Zoom in on any of these shots.

Of course you might need a few terabits on your SD card.
