I'm a newbie so please bear with me if this is a repeat question, otherwise posted before. I did a search but my skills in that area are as refined as my photography skills.
I took the camera to the beach yesterday, and I would like to know what I can do today to clean the camera thoroughly to remove the salt water mist. (body and lenses).
I currently do not have any products specific to cleaning my camera however I plan to order something immediately after reading some of the responses to this post.
What are so measures I can take today using everyday common household products to prevent corrosion?

One of the Lens rental sites had an article a couple of years ago on how they clean there lenses and cameras. They recommended PUROSOL Sport/Marine Flat panel Screen and Optical Cleaner. That is what I use after a day at the shore. Available at Amazon

From my experience, this is incorrect. Once the highlights are overexposed they are lost. If underexposed they can always be lightened. I guess in the end you have to try everything and stick with what works for you.

So long as the Right edge of the histogram is not touching the right side of the histogram box you can recover the highlights

If you ETTR you have more detail to recover in the dark areas If you underexpose the dark area can become muddy when you PP

One thing I have found in my time with digital, I take photos for me and my eye. If I tried to compose a photo for everyone's liking, heck, I'd never get out of my computer chair. Bottom line is, over expose, under expose, normal expose, beauty is in the eye of the person at the computer. Make an image that you like and you will find, probably more than a few, that will like it too!

I do not think we are talking about composition but getting a picture with the best dynamic range so you at the computer can produce the image that you want. If you have the range you and produce a dark photo that is dynamic etc.

This is a belief I cannot subscribe to and and would say in contradiction the Worlds best photographers all do PP on their images either themselves or through outsourcing. Lightroom and photoshop are amazing creative tools.
Using Lightroom/Photoshop by definition does not put one in the classification as suggested, although some of us are of course.
I woud normally upgrade from 4 to 5, but 'dithering' over joining the Adobe 'cloud'

you do not have to join the cloud to get LR5. it is free standing. You only need the cloud if you are upgrading PS

LR 5 is worth the 79$ upgrade price. It upgrades your old catalog and the new features work well. Spot removal tool works fine and I like the radial filter

I like videos, but I really like the printed word, because if I forget something on the video it is a pain to go back and search for it in the video well with the printed word especially a PDF on the computer I can find my answer faster and can follow the steps as I am processing my photo. processing on one screen and the PDF on the second screen
