As a weapons owner, I would leave my AR-15 home and hunt midsize animals with a rifle with better suited ballistics and longer range to hunt any animal. my AR-15 is used for fun and serious self protection.

As is your choice the same as the choice of others to use theirs for hunting. I was actually surprised when I researched this how people do actually use the AR-15 for hunting. How weapons owners use their weapons is a personal choice. As a weapons owner myself I have no desire to own an AR-15 but have no animosity towards those that due. Again, it's personal choice.

The bigger question is: Why in the world do you need an AR15? So you can go duck hunting or human hunting?

Actually the AR15 is used by several people to hunt mid sized animals like wolves that are threatening ranchers animals and/or residential areas.

Actually if history is studied you will find there have been school shootings for as long as there have been schools and guns. What changed? The internet came into existence. News stories are presented by many more sources in real time that were once usually left at the local level.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment, and with the way our government is going it's become more and more apparent why it's needed, but I also believe in dealing in truth.

This is another issue I laugh at people about. The company is not denying anybody access to any abortion options. This is simple a matter of who pays for it. Again it's the not wanting to accept the responsibility of your rights. Yes, you have the right to seek and abortion, along with that right comes the responsibility of funding it. The insurance riders cost extra money. By demanding a business pay for the riders is demanding them to be financially responsible for what you should be responsible for. You don't want to be responsible? Then don't do what will get you into the situation to start with.

This issue debate only shows the selfishness of people that "demand" their rights. Everybody wants their rights but nobody wants the responsibility to go with them. Yes, you have the right to open carry but with the right comes the responsibility of not scaring people almost to death. Open carry in any place that's not accustomed to it is just plan ludicrous and flat stupid. I'm a firm supporter of the 2nd Amendment but I also accept the responsibility that goes with it. It's also funny how one issue can be expanded to all issues. The CEO states that it's to address the issue of open carry in their stores and yet everyone wants to talk CCW. If you have properly concealed your weapon nobody would know you have it and therefore there would be no issue. If you haven't properly concealed your weapon then don't take it in the store and scare people for no good reason.

I would suggest going to the Small Business Administration (http://www.sba.gov/) web site. They have all the information on starting and managing a small business including links to states, loans, grants, training, so on and so forth. I'd recommend exploring the site before looking for anything specific.

Let me start by saying thank you to everyone for the welcome. I won't waste everybody's time by retyping what I already posted.

You're right, Chg_Canon, I'm interested in the reaching out a distance when I can't walk there. I like your recommendation for the 70-300mm. I'm not afraid to buy used, although I never heard of KEH.com. I've been looking on eBay and Amazon. I'll have to keep it in mind. was able to score my camera with lens for $177 simply because of an ink stain on the side of the lens. I also figure I can wait a few years to get the telephoto lens. Shoot, it took me about 50 years to get the camera, I figure another 2 or 3 to get the telephoto lens is no big deal.

To those who I ruffled their feathers by stating I wasn't interested in learning about f-stop and other functions of photography. I don't see those functions as not fun for others. I enjoy and appreciate the photographs that people who enjoy doing them produce. I fully respect the knowledge as well, that's why I'm here. And who knows, like Donna said, I just might become interested as time goes on.

I looked up Yashika, but that's not it. Close though, very close.

Hmm. It looks like I'm replying to my original post in stead of individual posts like I thought. Lol. Okay, I gotta regroup. I'll be back!

Thank you for the welcome. The guy that recommended to me the camera is also a Nikon shooter along with his dad.

I know that joke. I think the same thing every time I think of the name. I never did get to shoot a cannon in the Navy. The closest I ever got was a LAW.

Thank you for the welcome. I could tell there's a lot of intelligent people on here, the main reason I signed up. You're right about becoming interested. I've had that happen on more than one occasion. I figure I'll learn a lot if by nothing else than through osmosis by association.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, sir! That I am. I have my wish list I'm working off of. Although I'm finding it keeps growing almost as fast as I'm checking things off.

Thank you for the welcome. That's okay about the advice, the guy that recommended my camera uses Nikon. I remember hiding in my closet to change the film. Memories I will cherish forever.

Hello

I'm a 57 year old male that's finally realizing one of many childhood dreams who lives in Wilsonville, Oregon. That's to own a quality camera with interchangeable lenses. A standard lens and a telephoto lens. I just now need the telephoto lens. I just picked up a Canon Rebel XTI with an 18-55mm lens based on a recommendation from a car salesman who is heavy into photography with his dad.

I say I'm not what I'd call a photographer simply because I'm not interested in f-stop, special affects, creating shoots, go looking for that great shot, so on, and so forth. I just like to drag my camera around with me and take a picture of something I think is cool and/or interesting, if I happen to remember I have a camera with me. In other words, I'm not a photographer, I just like to take pictures.

I figure my life on this site will mostly be a lurker with an occasional post and some research into what would be the best telephoto lens for me. Any and all suggestions will be gladly accepted and entertained. I'll also be happy to answer any questions about anything. Even if the answer is I don't know.

The very first camera I ever owned was a box shape with 2 lenses on the front. The bottom lens was for the picture and the top lens was the view finder. There was a pop up trap on top to look down into for the view finder. The shutter release was a mechanical release at the lens and the film advance was a knob on the side. It was given to me by a grandparent when I was still early in grade school. Sadly no, I don't still have it.
