Looking out over the Skagit Valley from Little Mountain. I have primarily shot in auto modes in the past. I am trying to learn how to do my own settings, so any and all thoughts on basic settings and PP will be appreciated. One of these days I will need to step up for PP software......

Apart from minor adjustments and the removal of several unsightly lens flares, largely as seen by the camera. Sky and foreground coloration heavily affected by wildfire smoke.

When Arches was designated a National Monument in 1929, the Willow Flat Road was the primary vehicle entrance into the park. In the 1930's, the Civilian Conservation Corps blasted/built the switchback entrance road visitors use today, so the Willow Flat (4WD) road is seen by relatively few.

Another beauty Cany!! Thanks for the story to go with this wonderful shot!!!

This was one of my hoped for subjects, but I was told that the chance of getting one in the wild was not likely. These were taken in Daintree National Park in far northern tropical Australia. Inside the park but totally wild and unconfined.
Even for Australian citizens who live there, this is a very unusual sight in the wild. The chance of a tourist with only one day to spend in the park, seeing a wild Cassowary was kind of like seeing a wolf in Yellowstone.
We were cruising the back roads in our rental car, my wife was driving so I could pay attention to the jungle with the camera in my lap ready to jump out at a moments notice. I finally saw a flash of blue and black in a sunny opening. I got out and started following them slowly and was finally able to get the first photo. I wasn't happy with it but if was the only one I would get then so be it.
Finally after following him for about 20 minutes in heat and humidity like I have never experienced before I realized that there was a baby with him. Eventually they came out onto an abandoned road surface and I got the last 4 photos and a few more that I haven't posted.

Leftovers from an evening in July.

No surprise that your leftovers look like these!
#1 and #4 for me! I like Longshadow's idea about cropping but it's wonderful, just as is.

I spent a good bit of time prodding, poking and trying to get this mantis in different poses. I guess it finally had enough and let me know how it felt.

Hand held and in natural light of a Chinese mantis (Tenodera sinensis)...in the wild.

Please click Download for a closer look.

Again, thanks for viewing and all comments.

😂🤣😂 Great shot aside from that flippant mantis!!

I do a lot of travel, scenic and wildlife photography and sell them in galleries throughout Southern Arizona. Someone mentioned that they though panoramas of various places in Arizona would probably sell. While I have done several such photos in the past I've only printed one that hangs in my home office. Last week I had to travel from Sierra Vista to Douglas, AZ (about an hour's trip). On the way back I was forced to detour toward Willcox. Since it was on the way I took a side trip to the Chiricahua National Monument. I could see a thunderstorm gathering over that area from the highway. I went to the highest overlook in the park (Massai Point) and waited for a brief shower to pass. This is the result of that adventure.

I shot this in chassahowitzka wildlife management area ,in a area called three bridges road a few years ago . It is a 7 station stitch with 5 exposures at each station ,a HDRI Done at the time with a 12.3 megapixel camera ,a Nikon D300. It shows what a small megapixel camera can do...at the time . I now have a D810 . The lens was a 24 mm f2.8 manual focus Nikkor shot @ f16. This was shot vertical on a DIY pano bracket . It was assembled in CS5 and tone mapped in Photoshop .. I hope you like it .

I got eaten alive by mosquitoes getting the Black-crowned Night Heron over two days. That was to be expected since I was sitting in brush by the pond. My dump luck is still working. I got out of the truck set up the tripod and 600mm,walked over the road edge and shot the Bittern. For the jet I was out in full sunlight all day but with my sun hat and long sleeve white shirt. The hummer is pretty standard shooting using 1/8000 and fill flash.

Nice set! Love the jet wash from the tried and true F-16!!
