Hello, I have the Nikon D850 so I wanted to upgrade my monitor to take advantage of the image quality from this camera. I bought a monitor with the following specs:

27" In-Plane Switching (IPS) Panel
DVI-DL / HDMI 1.4 / DP 1.2 Inputs
2560 x 1440 Resolution
1000:1 Contrast Ratio
350 cd/m² Brightness
178°/178° Viewing Angles
5 ms (GtG) Response Time
1.07 Billion Color Support
OSD Controller to Switch Color Modes
99% AdobeRGB Color Gamut

I thought that one with the 99% Adobe RGB or greater was best since I use this in LR and PS. My question is this - the monitor has amazing colors, sharpness, etc. but it seems that images I create with this look flat on other computers, TV, etc. Is this because they may be in SRGB color so they look under saturated? I don't really understand how this works but perhaps some of you can help explain it to me. I don't know if there are different settings I should use or if this is just the way it is. I can still return this monitor if there is a better option for me.

Thanks much!

In November I had been "on the list" with B&H for a few weeks but found out it really didn't matter unless I gave them a deposit. I went to a local store, gave them a fully refundable deposit and had my D850 the next week. Probably just a lot of luck...

Hello,

I have only had my camera for a few weeks and last week had a chance to try the focus shifting feature. I have a couple of questions that maybe some of you are able to answer. I have just talked with Nikon tech help and they can't answer anything, "they are just learning" I was told.

1 - I have the setting to create a new folder each time. It does that but quite often other photos that have nothing to do with the focus shift sequence are also in that folder. Also bracketed shots can be in the folder.

2 - It seems like I cannot get over about 25 or so photos taken before it gets to infinity and stops. The setting can go up to 300. I do have the "focus width" set to 1 which is the lowest number. This should result in the maximum number of shots, correct? I understand that the lens and other settings can affect how many shots it would take to get to infinity focus. I am generally starting with the focus point a couple of feet in front of me. Are any of you able to get even 50 photos in the sequence?

Thank you for your help!

My wife and I visited Mon Valley in September for the 1st time as well as upper and lower Antelope canyon. We stayed at The View and it is exactly at the entrance to MV where Gouldings is a couple of miles away. The View was great, couldn't be better for watching the sunset or sunrise unless you were down on the loop road. The restaurant had great food, overall, no complaints. We may be back there in January and staying at Gouldings because we will have our dog with us. Definitely take the loop road at least once. You should have wide angle to longer zooms to take advantage of the different photo stops along the road.

As far as Antelope canyon, you absolutely should do one or both of them. In September it was very disappointing. I booked the "photography" tour for the upper canyon and it was so crowded I couldn't even use my tripod much of the time. I would think January has many fewer people visiting the area.

You also should do a sunrise or sunset at Horseshoe Bend, it is quite amazing.

Here are a couple of photos, the one is the restaurant at The View.

Curious if anyone has ever had any issues resulting from camera gear and more specifically SD cards going through the airport scanning machines?

Any info is appreciated!

Another tip is to keep your lens cap on until you are ready to shoot or frost can form on the lens glass.

Yes, always keep your battery inside your coat or pocket. IF your camera fogs up on the inside, get your camera cleaned, or you could have serious spots on your photos.

One big caution is if you go from a warm building to the cold and then back inside your lens, camera sensor, etc will fog up and form condensation. You didn't say what you would be doing...I have photographed northern lights in Alaska, Canada, and Finland in as much as 40 below zero. I found that leaving the camera outside or putting it in a case to slow down the temperature adjustment helps. You just want it to be a slow transition.

You will get amazing photos from either camera. I have several unbelievable photos enlarged to 20x30 and 36x18 from my D70 in 2006!

One thing to consider for the 15-30 or the 14-24 is the expense in using filters.
