This plant only blooms at night and when the sun's rays hit the bloom it dies. The pollen for germination is usually spread by bats, again at night. You have to get up before dawn to get a shot of it.

You might consider taking along a tele converter for those situations where you could use a little more reach

Did Yellowstone and Tetons a couple of years ago had the 70-200mm but could have used a bit more reach. Adding a tele converter would probably have done the trick. Carry one with me now. Hindsight is always 20x20!

I have a Walking stick with a removable threaded knob on top that doubles as a monopod for a camera with those heavy lenses. It is called Tracks and is made by Cascade Designs, Inc., Seattle,Washington. I bought it at a camping and hiking store pretty reasonable.

Kinda neat, seems to be in constant motion. Maybe it's just me. Interesting!

You are right it is heavy. I use it about 50% of the time hand held and when I get tired I have a walking stick with top knob which unscrews and I can use it as a monopod. Just recovering from shoulder replacement surgery so I get tired pretty quickly.

If you goal was to get the girl and the water you could have moved to you right and not included so much of the sunset. Either that or take the shot in the morning just before sunrise.

Thanks Regis, every time I visit there I take at least 100-150 shots. I really enjoy your eagle photos.

Thanks for the look Madman. It is really worth the trip, always something going on. Excellent art museum in the adjacent building with a nice cafe for having lunch.

Bought a Cadillac XTS, owner's manual and complete instructions came loaded on an iPad which you get as part of the package. With cameras seems like you have to download everything on your own whether it is Sony, Nikon or whatever.

Appreciate the look Tom. We make a visit about twice a year and are never disappointed. It is like walking through a tropical garden with hundreds of species. fluttering around you.
