Not to be argumentative, but there are now some replacement lens that can correct astigmatism. My wife got them. See this website: http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/toric-iols.htm
but it depends on the severity of the astigmatism. In any event, I did not mention astigmatism, I was talking about seeing distance and closeup without the use of glasses. Astigmatism is yet something else.

Cataracts are not the same as glaucoma. Two very different conditions. These days, cataract patients are offered a variety of lens. The cheapest which is covered by Medicare, is a single focus lens, usually for distance. With that you need to wear reading glasses for close work. For a substantial additional payment (over Medicare), you can get a multi-focal lens that allow you uncorrected vision both near and far. Your ophthalmologist should explain the options to you.

I am getting on in age and had thousands of slides in Kodak Carousels. I started to scan them myself and it was clear it would be a forever project. I then took all my old slides, threw out ones not worth keeping (a lot!) and sent them off to ScanCafe. They will ship your slides to India for scanning or, if you prefer, have it done in the U.S., they will do so at higher cost. They will send you a link to a website where your scans are posted. You only pay for the ones you want to keep. They also provide photo restoration for photos damaged by mold. I did not have any damaged slides. I was very pleased with the results of the scans done in India.

I have Wasabi batteries that I purchased for a Sony RX 100. I get far fewer shots from them than factory originals. I have found they also discharge in storage far more quickly than factory batteries. They are handy for a backup, but not as a replacement.

I think the sharpness on the wing feathers is spot on.

Nikon's strong suit has not been in the mirrorless cameras. If I go that route, I am inclined to go somewhere other than Nikon.

All,
Very helpful advice. Any thoughts on the Fuji XC 5--230?

I should have added that the major reason for getting the Fuji, would be its lighter weight and size.

I have been a lifelong user of Nikon cameras dating back to the Nikon F! My latest camera is the D7100 which has been a fine camera. It takes lovely, sharp, well exposed pictures and is extremely versatile. My wife and I love to travel and I take many of my pictures on these trips. However, carrying the Nikon and two lenses for an entire day is getting to be a burden. I do have a Sony RX100 III and sometimes leave the Nikon in the hotel and carry that. I am thinking of trading in the Nikon for the Fuji XT20 and a couple of lenses (short zoom and telephoto zoom). I was wondering if anyone has views on the Fuji and the change I am thinking of making. If you have experience with the Fuji, I would appreciate your thoughts on the lenses.
