Good points. I usually look at these articles as fodder for brand bashing or bragging, which is one of the most common UHH consistencies. I don’t see any of the major companies disappearing.

Gear helps. Surveys are fun for discussion. But in most instances, it is not the wand, it’s the magician. Without question there are photographers on this site with pictures taken using a Nikon F2 that I couldn’t match with the very best equipment now available.

That seems like a lot of images to commit to one card. 🤔

Agreed. The Z 8 has 2 card slots. I switched out the SD slot as I went along.

Late to the game. I got a screaming deal on 2 cards from Delkin of 1 Tb each, that’s 1000 GB. It holds about 25-30,000 images taken RAW with a Z 8 at 45k Mp. I had no idea it would hold that many pictures. I will never fill them on a trip. Before, I used a 128 GB or 256 GB card and always felt it was ample for any trip. I just took 10,000 images on a trip and would have been fine with a 512 GB card.

SSD’s do not have moving parts. Makes sense that they are more reliable. Still imperfect but more reliable. I keep my SSD drives to 4 Tb. Lacie is great and so are Samsung SSDs—a decent value.

I love my Nikon 200-500 f5.6. My favorite lens by far is the Nikon70-200 E f2.8. So very sharp. Along with the 70-200 I carry 2 primes, Nikon 20 and 50 f1.8. The Tamron and Sigma 200-600 have gotten great press.

Welcome. This site has significant bias and strong opinions towards favored brands. That is why I like it. Each brand has a full frame mirrorless at around $2500, $3800 and $5500. Pick your budget. The same is true if you want to use a DSR full frame—with discounts they are less now. The mirrorless have better tracking, which is an amazing feature. They also have better frames per second and the camera/lenses are lighter. Go to a store and get your hands on them.

As for full frame. I like the capability to crop the image myself. With a full frame, high pixel camera I lose nothing in image quality when I crop. It also is nicer for wide angle shots. For me, I shoot nothing but full frame. If my native eye were better and cropping wasn’t important, I might buy one of the less expensive Dx cameras. They are excellent.

Pictureline in downtown Salt Lake City is phenomenal. The prices are competitive and they are rapidly developing an internet presence. Honest, friendly and knowledgeable. A great resource.

SB-5000 is an amazing tool. The SB-700 and 500 are also great, but the SB 5000 is amazing.

Recent fat and sugar consumption patterns are almost irrelevant if the blood is drawn when fasting. Serum glucose spikes when blood is drawn close to a meal, sugar heavy or not. If an individual has undiagnosed diabetes, the serum glucose level will be extremely high when not fasting. The A1C level is a better indicator of diabetes if the serum glucose numbers are near normal when fasting. Fat intake can also be altered by a recent meal. The other tests will remain the same. A non fasting test is still better than none, especially if near normal.

To be accurate, the Z8 combo with the 70-200 2.8 comes in just under 4 lbs at 60 oz, not 6 lbs.

The sharpness of the 70-200 lens is amazing. Despite what people might say, saving a pound or two over a DSL with the lens and camera and the diminished size matters to me. Walking 3-5 miles tires me and a few extra pounds on my back is less comfortable.

The biggest difference between full frame and smaller sensor formats is the ability to crop on one hand versus the light weight of a smaller camera. If I was better at my on site composition, the smaller formats would prove more than adequate. I gave my nice Panasonic travel camera to my son. I couldn’t get the results that I wanted for a few reasons and it made him very happy.
