From the second page of my posting history.

Interesting endeavor with much participation. But of course got close to going over the cliff in a few places. šŸ¤·šŸ¼

Hereā€™s a question that hasnā€™t been asked in the last few pages. Any new poll updates?

Iā€™m an amateur shooting high school hockey on a Z8 with a Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 GII lens.
I shoot shutter priority setting my shutter speed at 1250 and iso on auto as high as 5000.
When i edit my pictures the lighting varies and in LR it shows my F stop will vary from 3 to 7.4. How can I stop the F stop from fluctuating ?

Iā€™ve been shooting HS hockey for several years and the attached pics were when I first ventured out. EXIF shows f2 and shutter priority at 1/640. ISO was floating around 1200. Now I shoot at locked in high ISOā€™s 10,000 and go for higher speeds and smaller apertures, and depend on Topaz DeNoise to clean them up. But Iā€™ve never tried what many here are suggesting. Manual and float the ISO which I will try
Problem with Hockey is the scratched up plexiglass and safety netting between you and the subjects. The attached pics were taken at the Islanders practice rink in Eisenhower Park. Itā€™s a pro rink with removable photographer plates in the 4 corners of the rink. I think it makes quite a difference compared to obstacles usually encountered. Lighting was excellent too.

Pro-100 here. Great printer. My guess is youā€™ll get many, many opinions and recommendations. Price range and quality is a factor also. I printed for years on a canon Mx-920. 5 cartridge machine. The pro 100 uses 8. They say the more the merrier. Happy reading.

A strange picture, but in many wars there were moments of respite where common soldiers on both sides got together to even play games. Practices in WWI might not have been far from their minds, where this sort of fraternizing was not uncommon.

Thatā€™s an interesting take. It gives credence to the photo that otherwise might be taken as a contrived AI pic.

Assuming it is an actual photograph (not AI), I see three photographers talking photography. Pictured by a fourth photographer? Four photographers from at least three different regimes, in one place at the same time? Hmm

Maybe they had a tripod. But yes I see your point and had thought about it. But then someone went to the trouble of making an interesting photo rather than some of the garbage you see on SM.

Yes it is a ā€œfeel goodā€ photo isnā€™t it?

Didnā€™t know where to post this. But whatever. My grandson sent me this TikTok pic because he knows Iā€™m into photography. I found this picture strange for 1941. So I looked up the history. Russia invaded Finland 1939, Germany was aiding Finland. Finland attacked Russia in 1941. WW2 is in the middle of all that. I donā€™t know. Looks like these guys didnā€™t get the memo. šŸ¤·šŸ¼

I have an old ColorMunki colorimeter from a number of years ago and it won't work with my new BenQ monitor. So I need to buy something new. In looking at B&H they have two choices within my price range and I'm just wondering if someone has used them.

One is the Calibrite Color Checker Display which I think is made by the company that made my ColorMunki and it's priced at $169.

The Datacolor SpyderX Elite is in a package that includes a Checker 24 Color Chart and a Spyder CUBE Exposure Calibration tool for $149.50 which is on sale from $299. Naturally, everyone likes a good sale, I'm just asking if the SpyderX Elite is a product that can get the job done.

I use the spyder. Works very well. I believe youā€™ll get numerous answers on this. Many here use the spyder.

Speed Graphics in all of their sizes had grips of one sort or another. You see them in pictures from the 1930s, Common right side grip doubled as the battery case for the flash gun and electric solenoid shutter release. In the absence of a flash a wooden dowel worked too. The brackets for the handle came standard on the camera body.

The ā€˜potato masherā€™ style electronic flash units, like the Honeywell Futuramic design of the 1960s fit on a bracket that made them effectively handles. The hardware of those Honeywell brackets was built to the same diameter as the older Heiland flash guns used on the Graphlex cameras, and that diameter became a defacto standard through the 70s.

A different type of handle was on the left side of the cameraā€”a leather hand strap that you put your hand inside. On the German Linhof Technikas there was an anatomically shaped hand grip on the left side which had a cable release for triggering the shutter.

Rolleiflex had a pistol grip that attached under the camera. Novoflex and others had handles and pistol grips in rifle stock shapes to support long telephoto lenses. The triggers on these were either used for focus or had a cable release built in.

Aerial cameras in WWII had built in handles on both sides so they could be held.

Just a few I remember. Handles go back a long way.

So did machine guns in the open door of choppers in Viet Nam.

I find the bulge useful when Iā€™m walking with the camera and itā€™s hanging at my side. I remember a Topcon I had in the early 70ā€™s, also a Minolta that wasā€bulgeless ā€œand remember not being comfortable carrying it that way.

First and foremost ā€” *Canon will not charge you for help*!! Youā€™ve dialed a spoofing number. Go to USA.canon.com (on tablet and donā€™t know how to copy exact link) and then find their ā€˜supportā€™ page for the correct phone number.

But also, I would agree with the several comments about using 3d party inks - especially the ā€˜bargainā€™ brands. (There are some, such as precisioncolors.com that have reputations for top quality products and good communication with customers.)

You may have to purchase and install a new print head - probably around $200 to $300 - or just replace the printer with a newer Pro-200 model. OEM ink is less expensive on the newer Pro-200, but still not cheap.

The newer Canon Pro-200 will Not accept 3rd party ink cartridges. The OEM cartridges are completely black now and you cannot see how much ink is left versus the Pro-100. The Pro-100 cartridges are see through. Also there are not any chip resetters for the Pro-200. Seems Canon has dried up that market with their new printers. I sold my Pro-200 just for this reason and bought a New Pro-100 which accepts 3rd party ink cartridges. I print a lot of pictures. I also use Precision Colors ink and cartridges with No issues. I cannot tell Any difference with Precision inks and OEM. Pro-200 uses the same print head as the Pro-100.

So what youā€™re telling me is that when my current Pro-100 dies I should try to find another one?

I have the Pro-100 Canon and I have been using non-OEM Cartridges for well over 3 years now and haven't had a problem as yet. I have a friend that is pretty much a wizard with the P-100 and he tells me that after some time from cleaning the print heads and etc. the ink collects in the bottom of the case. This might be your problem.
When I bought my P-100 I bought a 2nd one to keep still boxed as a back up. I buy my ink from LD Products and haven't had a problem yet. My printer is only a very few years old.

By the way, LD Products guarantees their Cartridges for life. I have only had a problem with one and they sent me a replacement no charge.

I also have a Pro-100 and previous Canon printers. Also use LD products with no problems. In 15+ years had one cartridge fail and replaced. Terrific customer service.
