You didn't state what size. Epson and Canon seem to be the leaders in this field. I chose Canon Pro 1000 and have not regretted it one bit, even if the ink is expensive.

Yes! I own the Pixma Pro 100. Awesome printer. If you can find a used one on eBay go for it. You can also use 3rd party ink in the 100. Canon now makes the Pro 200 but you Cannot use 3rd party ink in it. The Pro 200 uses the same print head as the Pro 100. Good Luck

What do you want to print. If you want to make photos for display you would be well served to stay with Canon and Epson. I personally print with an Epson P-900 and a P-7000.
Pro-100 here. Great printer. My guess is you’ll get many, many opinions and recommendations. Price range and quality is a factor also. I printed for years on a canon Mx-920. 5 cartridge machine. The pro 100 uses 8. They say the more the merrier. Happy reading.
I have a Canon Pro 1000. My choice was after I went to a Photo Expo and Canon was using a Pro 1000 for there demo.
How serious are you about printing? If you want relatively nice results, any printer mentioned here will give you that.
Some of those mentioned are Dye based, others are pigment based. Pigment Based printers have the widest gamut and greatest longevity. Roll paper is a big advantage for large prints. What size prints and what is your budget are all factors.
Take a look at YESTERDAY's discussion.
3 years ago, I was told (by so-called) experts that Epson was the leader of the pack.
After so many problems in those two years, I opted for the Canon. I didn't need to make photo prints on glossy papers, but just wanted something that I could depend on, (anytime) that I needed a quick scan or copy of a document.
Surprising, the Canon was less expensive and so were the ink cartridges. No skipping or having to run a cleaning procedure twice a week. Just good copy, quiet, and dependable, like their cameras.
So far, no paper jams, either
Give Canon a try. I like it.

Both are on Black Friday special at Costco until next week.
Xerox has an excellent laser printer which scans, copies and emails your non printer and printer material. Found a Xerox B225 printer that will print around 1,000 pages and a large cartridge which can print close to 5,000 sheers. Printer sells for around $135 .00 with the extra cartridge around $49.00.
