When an item is on sale, it usually is for a limited amount of time. Yes, that lens was as high as $2795.00 when it was first introduced. And yes, it has been as low as $1895.00. Just like all companies, prices are driven by demand.
Nikon puts their lenses on sale from time to time. I would wait them out, keep saving your stash, Nikon, like everyone else, runs sales. Be patient grasshopper, the lens will come back.
And, did I mention how sharp it is. The following was grab shot taken at a Memorial Day parade.

I probably have more cameras than B&H. But without hesitation, if only one, it would be the Nikon D850 and the 24-70. And I’d hate to think it would ever come to that.

Great flash and I do own it. Get the accessory kit with diffusers, bounce card and some other accessories. Easy to attach these to the flash head via magnetic connection.

The 780 is a much better equipped camera than the 750 except for only having one slot. Other than that it has group autofocus a better processing engine and better low light capability. I think there are other improvements but I haven't read lately. I personally shoot a D500.

The D780 has dual card slots just like the D750.

Have you tried updating Camera Raw? Version 6.7 will work with CR2. That was the last update for CS5.

Very hard to give you advice as you don’t provide any criteria that you will use to make the decision. So my “advice” is to go with your gut. Buy the camera you think you want and go for it. There’s no bad decision here. Just be cautious on Ebay if you decide on the D750. Make sure you are dealing with someone reputable.

In general, there will be a loss in sharpness with the tc, even if only slightly. The D850 has a BSI sensor and the D500 does not. The image “quality” should be better on the D850. If I had to guess, I would say option 1 would be preferred. That said, given good technique and a foundation in lighting and composition, you can create a stellar image with any of the 3.

Do you think the camera maker knows more about batteries than the battery maker, or that the battery maker would make their own brands with inferior specifications.

Your opinion is based on marketing hype not reality. Discerning buyers are not persuaded by what the marketing boys put out.

The reality, as mentioned throughout these posts, is that 3rd party batteries don’t last as long as the manufacturers brands. That has been a common thread on all prior posts on UHH. So his opinion doesn’t appear to be based on hype at all.

To me it’s not about embracing old vs. new technology. Both digital and film have a place. One is not necessarily better than the other. Digital is more expedient. Film is more of a process. Shooting with an M6 is not like shooting a 5Dmiv or a D850. I’m more connected to what I need to do with a film camera because I generally have to do more to get to the final image. And, the look of film is different than digital even when film is scanned. I like both but do admit that 90% of the time I shoot digital. Don’t give up on film. It’s been having a bit of resurgence. Btw, I was recently surprised to see KEH offer up to 3x more for a LN- F4 or F5 than a D3s.

This is the one I used. Fairly simple with good results. It is twice as expensive as the one you stated but it has much better reviews.

I rarely delete photos unless there is something technically wrong with them. I have a pretty good organization system that works for me. A 4T external drive is about the same size and weight as a 2T drive.
