Yes, snapped it with a cell phone looking through a heavily tinted dbl pane window. My wife went outside to shoo it away and it just stared at her. Even a couple crows harassing it didn't seem to phase it. This happens most every spring when the crows have hatchlings in their nests in the trees below. The hawks are interesting and nice to see out there but do leave a mess.

These hawks perch on the balcony railing to scan the parkland below for their next meal.

This morning 5 more locomotives arrived at the yard. I can't quite make out the meaning of the writing painted across the initials "FWRR" but it starts out "Fort Worth &...". Interesting is that each locomotive has an outline of a Longhorn with a different county name painted on them too.
There were only 27 cars being pulled along with them.
(Sorry about the fuzzy handheld shot from about a half mile away.)

Lately when driving by this rail yard we see more and more locomotives lined up idle. Drove as slow as we could today to count almost 40 in that line. Sometimes we see a few on the track next to that one too.

For the last several years we have seen two or three parked in that spot next to a large repair facility but very seldom more. Watching a daily 8 a.m. train entering that yard we've counted an average of 100 cars or more being pulled until this past spring. We now count 35 or less arriving from the northeast.

All we see on the TV newscasts are airplanes in storage, how about this rolling stock? I wonder if the railroad industry has received any of the billions of dollars as has been given to the airline industry this last six or more months?

My 2 cents worth: The 300mm lens you have should do the job. You might want to look into some sort of software that will allow you to crop out the subject and enlarge it. Of course that has limitations but would be the least expensive way to get an up close and personal look. Maybe there is some software already on the computer you used to send in the above note that would work for you.

This little guy just landed on the outside of the window by my chair.
Second photo experimenting with a different background.

... "WINDOWS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO AND APPLES SUCK!" :)

Believe me, that was the favorite sentence around here for a while since using a PC starting with Windows 95 in '95.
However after many months got used to the idiosyncrasies of this 2012 MacBook Pro and absolutely will not go back. It is still my favorite piece of computer gear even though the battery will last only about 3 hours now.
But now I am again saying the last two words of that same sentence about the keyboard on my new MacBook Pro, oh well, maybe I'll get used to it whenever this old laptop completely dies and I have to use it.
These things foster genuine love/hate relationships with their users.

Beautiful animal companion, sure do like the name. I even look sorta like him with being in self isolation and not getting a haircut for months.

Then there are those customers that are non-compliant. My spouse was next to enter a very small UPS store from the sidewalk and a defiant woman without a mask bustled in front of her and the others waiting in line, jerked open the door and went inside. She emerged a short time later with a triumphant look and bustled past the three ladies in line at less than a safe distance away from them.
Gotta feel sorry for folks who have such low self esteem they feel the need to bully others.

Did you have a balance? I have used the card only 4 times in 11 months and have never been charged a fee of any sort.

Didn’t have a balance.
But as someone said, they have screwy options and rules, maybe my contract had different fine print.
These days companies will do anything to get money.

Be careful, didn't use it one month and was charged about $15 as a non-use fee. Canceled it immediately!

The 52mm drop in filter holder for a canon f2/8 400mm lens is about the only way a filter can be mounted. A filter the size of its objective lens would most likely be very expensive and hard to protect and handle off camera.
