I just got back from a curbside pickup at Lowes. Very scary. Line up to get in seemed orderly from where I was parked, but the Lowes employee, controlling admission, wore no mask and was actively engaged in dialogue with the front of line shoppers, who were also bare faced. About fifty or sixty percent of the people leaving the store were also without masks, or even evidence of having them available to use.

The scarier thing for me, being eighty and having a heart condition, was that the young man who approached to collect my order number, stood just 2 feet from my window and also wore no mask. I noticed that very few Lowes employees were wearing masks either. Likewise when he returned with my order, he loaded my van at the rear - within about five feet of me, the driver - still maskless.

Now I don't care if people want to risk their health within their own circle, but in a public setting, please respect MY health. Just because you were virus free when you left home this morning, doesn't mean you are not infectious by 4 in the afternoon, if you have worked your shift without protective gear.

BTW, my wife had to enter the store for a billing question - her story is even more scary. I pray she will be OK.

We all need to pray. The virus has not gone away, but many people act as though it is no longer potentially dangerous.
The country might be fortunate, but this summer might be a deadly nightmare.

I had to step between a man and my mother at an outdoor flea market Saturday. My mother cannot wear a mask due to severe vertigo so I was staying close by her side when an older man tried to talk to her up close. I got between him and my mother since he was also without a mask. Please, people, respect the space around others. If you don't want to do so for your safety then do so for others.

It might be more effective to complain to Lowe's corporate headquarters than here.

My visits to our local Home Depot reveal the same thing. The self check-out requires that you use a hand-held scanner, and their are no disinfecting wipes to use before you pick it up. I tried to complain to one worker, who told me "it has been sanitized". When I pointed out to her that the next customer in line was now using the scanner that I had just used with no disinfecting, she just smiled and said "have a nice day".

I guess this replaces my original problem with this Home Depot, which for some reason attracts people who feel that shopping is a task their dogs should share with them. Almost every time we go to HD we see someone with their dog - sometimes not even on a leash. Sometimes people with pit bulls. We have seen dried up smeared dog feces on the floor, and one time a great big dog stopped and squatted down and had diarrhea right in front of the appliances! I love my dog but have never felt that I needed to share such mundane tasks of living with them. I have complained to the store and to natoinal HD HQ, but have never heard anything back.

Sorry about your mother's condition. Note that I have recently seen a plastic screen (looks a little like a wilder's mask) that may help and be usable. I don't know where to obtain them, but it is worth a little research.

I believe you are right. There may be a lull then a false sense of hope and right behind that it's going to come back and bite us in the A$$....again.

AND she has to watch out for the fleas too.

We all hope not, but logic sure suggests it might happen.

And then they will spread it to people who aren't rioters.

Why change the tone of a non-political, but serious thread?

Saying that we can relax the controls because they have slowed the spread of the virus is like saying that the parachute has slowed my rate of descent so I can now take it off.

Not a bad analogy.
Makes me wonder: What’s wrong with people?

I went to Lowes last weekend and about all employees had face coverings. The only problem, they were pulled down and only the chin was covered. I figured store policy was to wear one!
