Having seen a LiPo fire up close and personal and how hard it is to extinguish, I would never charge an EV with a LiPo battery in my garage or near my house.

Indeed. I once observed a small laptop battery explode into flames (an outdoor experiment involving a pellet rifle and an already swollen battery).

The fire was astonishing.

....Hertz just announced selling off 20,000 (of their fleet of 50,000) of their EV’s primarily due to maintenance costs and availability of parts....

AND because they were being wrecked more than the conventional/gas cars in the fleet.

Having driven a friend's Tesla for about a dozen hours on a recent trip, it's not hard to imagine why inexperienced renters have had more accidents. Two things...the controls are mostly accessed via a huge touchscreen that requires too much focus (eyes off the road) to figure out, especially for an unfamiliar driver.

Reason two, these cars are so over powered, as fast as an exotic sports car. A tiger by the tail that may be too much for the casual renter to handle. CRASH!

Offer him what he'd get from B&H or MPB. Your friend isn't looking to make money out of you and you don't want to take advantage of him.

[quote=MrBob]..." Order Of Operations "...

I find it important to crop first.

This sometimes eliminates issues from the image that need not be corrected, particularly back lighting or hot spots which affect overall exposure.

Many people tend to be "insurance poor." Yes, anything can happen at any time....but if you buy a quality/reliable product, chances are very good that insurance will not be needed. I NEVER buy insurance on a new item (often, at checkout). I don't know how much you paid for your insurance policy, but I'll bet that it would have covered your repair cost.

If I were using a computer that is not online, and were happy with the programs and performance of said computer, I would see no need to "upgrade". If you're working in a static environment (offline), there is no need for newer hardware, unless it is damaged or failing.

That said, any new Windows machine will come with version 11. Windows 10 is now several years out of date and will not be supported beyond October of 2025. There's really no choice to be made. Windows 11.

I am also now getting Amazon ads saying that those on Medicare, etc. can get Prime for half price. I'm an old guy on a fixed income, and I resent the $%%^ out of that.

Look again.

Looks like an image from a cartoon, nothing realistic about it.

You can have a lot space on your disk, but it must be contiguous space. If the disk is fragmented, Photoshop will latch onto a fragment and then stop, thinking the disk is full. You should defrag regularly.

Windows has defragmented itself automatically since Windows 7.

Not a stove, but my Samsung fridge has been a disappointment. It's quite nice overall, but constantly leaks water into the produce bins, and the paint came off the aluminum door handles.

Great post, Jerry. Signing in to third party sites with Google or Facebook (or other) credentials is a horrible security risk. It's literally giving access to someone you don't know, simply for the asking.

How did anyone survive before counting shutters was on a camera?

We paid plenty per click in those (film) days. Self restraint was automatic.

I've had the same discussion with KEH...was told they don't advertise shutter counts, the excuse seemed thin at the time. It takes time to determine, so I suspect they don't want to be bothered and make up excuses. Their competitors generally do advertise shutter counts.
