Runakid, you keep asking this same question. Please borrow or rent whichever camera you are considering and decide for yourself.
I did not realize that I had asked this question before. I am sorry to have wasted your time.

Why should I switch from my Nikon D800/D500 to a Z9?
What will I gain?
Thanks
I will wait. I do wonder there are other benefits that I would get with a mirrorless over a DLSR.
Wondering after reading some of Steve Perry's ebook on BIF whether I need a mirrorless body.
Can I get by with a new/used D850 if I do not shoot much BIF?
How much better will my other animals show up with a new Z9? I understand eye detection is great but with bison, lions, etc finding and keeping the eye in focus is really not that difficult.
I guess what I am asking : is going to a mirrorless body going to make a $4000+ difference? Since my wife and I use Nikon bodies I am guessing that a Z9 for me would save me money as I can use my old lenses. I had thought about moving to Sony a1 and their 200-600. But then all my other lenses and bodies would just sit around.
Don't forget PayBoo at B/H saves on tax
Taken outside of Cody, WY last December.
Ideas?
I shoot most animals and lots of birds- many in flight.
My wife and I shoot Nikon . She has a Nikon 7100 and uses the 18-300 for her trips and family photos. I have a 7000 that sits in the car for stuff that you just see. I also have a 800 and 500 bodies. We have a 70-200 2.8, 200-500, 500 pf and 500 f4.
Seems like a lot of glass and bodies to make the switch.
Looking for better eye focus and saving weight too.
Love my Nikon 500 pf but use the Nikon 200-500 more
Anyone using something other than the terrible hood that comes with the lens?
Thank you for your wonderful thoughtful advice. Steve Perry said recently that you need to be able to point out what you are missing and what a mirrorless would do to make you a better photographer. Not sure I can do that now. So I wait. He also said that waiters [is that a word?]- will only have more choices as time goes on.
I currently shoot with either a D500 or D800.
I am not moving at this time but wondering what would be a good camera to start with. $$ is a consideration so no a1. I am most interested in animals and birds in flight.
