Me too. I really enjoy the program. I personally think fixing that problem is more important than putting anew photo ion the splash page. Lol

I was printing on a canon and what I saw on the screen was not even close to what was being printed. I trued to change icc and other print profiles. I was unsuccessful in finding a way to do this in Luminar 3. I contacted support and they explained that Luminar3 did not support that yet to send my images to another program and print from there. I have no problem printing matching the screen from Nikon's free programs or lightroom after some print profile adjustments in lightroom. I print with the same printer you have. I love it. I have just contacted support again to find out if it has been addressed yet. Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you for your detailed explanation. I hope it either has or will be addressed soon.

If they would only fix their printing issues.

Dr. Bob,

I have been using Luminar 2018, recently changed over to Luminar 3 and have pre-ordered Luminar 4. As of yet I have not printed any of my images, either on my Canon Pro 100 or by sending them to a third party printing vendor. My question, would you please elaborate on the printing issues you refer to? I would like to know what the problems are as I may soon want to print something. Thanks in advance, Tom

If you can walk, take day hikes into the canyons - Boynton Canyon, West Branch, etc. There are a number of guides available. The Pink Jeep Tour is supposed to be really good - I haven't taken it. All very beautiful.

I took the Pink Jeep Tour and I definitely recommend it. We got into places I did not think it could go and got some good shots that day.

Cherohala Sky between Robbinsville, NC and Tellico Plain, TN. A beautiful drive of less than 100 miles. When you cross from NC into Tn (or vise versa) you will be at the highest point, approx 5600 feet and the view is terrific. There are plenty of places to pull off and do photography. I have ridden this many times by motorcycle. You will enjoy this one.

Luminar Flex is basically Luminar III without the library. Luminar 2018 is very similar as it is almost the same as Luminar III, but without the library. Many folks wanted Luminar to replace the subscription to lightroom......Luminar is not, at least not yet, comparable to Lightroom in the Library module, and for those with many thousands of photos in Lightroom or some other program, it is most reasonable they might want to use Lightroom for Library but be able to use Luminar as well. Flex, a powerful plugin, is designed to do that. My own experience with Luminar 2018 was most positive, but like all editing programs, a little can go a long way. Many say Luminar takes it too far........just back off the slider some. The first Library issued with Luminar III was a disaster for many. Now that it has been improved I am enjoying using Luminar III.

He Tom - I hope I am being fair to both Bridge and LR - I use both - but found LR much easier to manage.

Gene, I am sure you are. You are both over my head on this one though but I do find the exchange interesting and I have learned a few things about each software package by reading this thread. I believe both of you are largely saying the same thing just using different nomenclature, though I may well be wrong. Thanks for commenting. Tom

I like these for their intended purpose (otherwise only a fan of tats and piercings in extreme moderation). I would get rid to the tags in #3 and #5 on back of bra strap, otherwise very nice.

Try this Google search:

"move picasa library"

Might as well read what actually worked for someone else.

I did. Very little help. Mostly about moving from one computer to the next still using Picasa/

IMPORTANT:

Don't "move" the files.

"Copy" them to the new drive instead. This leaves the originals untouched, until you can confirm the copies are good and safe.

If you "move", the images are removed from their original location while being written to the new location... If anything goes wrong in the process, you will have lost the image.

If you left-click drag and drop the folders or files you want to copy to the new location, it will automatically "copy" them instead of "moving" them.

If you right-click drag and drop instead, you will see a small pop up menu giving choice of whether to "copy" or "move" (among other things)... Always choose "copy".

ALSO:

External drives are usually used as backup... not as the sole location for images. External drives are prone to eventual failure.

At a minimum, I'd buy two external drives and make two complete sets of your archives, then periodically sync them to be sure to have a backup copy. Depending upon how many images you produce, the interval between syncing the backup might be anything from a week to a month.... could even be "on demand" after session, if you want to be super careful.

Many people actually keep a backup safely stored off-site, just in case something happens. "Cloud" storage is another method, but usually involves some sort of on-going "rent" costs, may mean slow uploads and is only as reliable as the storage provider

It's not a matter of "if" the external drive will fail. It's more a matter of "when".

Totally agree. I now have a complete Picasa produced library on 2 different portable hard drives. I copied the first set to the second and they are identical. I still also have the original set on Drive C. All will be backed up regularly. Picasa stores its edits in a separate file--one separate file-- for each folder. Not exactly a side car but not inside the photo either. I could not figure out how to simply copy and paste and get the edits to go with the photos. I ended up exporting each complete folder out of Picasa in mass with the instruction to export at original size, which Picasa has an an option. Does not appear to be original size, but it is relatively close to it. It appears that I had to either export or copy the edited file in Picasa in order for the edits to become a part of the photo, which I wanted because I know Picasa will eventually become so archaic compared to a later version of Windows that it will eventually stop working.

If someone knows of a better way or a way in which even less data would be lost, I am open to further suggestion, but at least I now have two sets now that the edits are a permanent part of the new image.

OK, I have experimented with a couple of the library's file folders. I can copy and paste and I lose no data copying a file at a time. File name and structure copies as well. Great so far!

I am finding that the edits are not going along with the photos! Apparently I will either have to export from Picasa to keep the edits or I will have to save each folder in Picasa in order for the save to place the edits permantely into the files???? Either may cause data loss and am wondering which route would be the better??? Anyone know?? I guess I can use and old folder with some junk photos in it and run a test......... Thanks to all who have responded and given advice!
