You will never shoot something like this with a cell phone and print it the size I did and get the detail. I had to downsize this pic in photo shop to get it to upload here. When I printed this picture the size is 36 by 96 inches. I shot this last June with the Nikon Z9. I stitch several shots together in photoshop. I shoot panos all the time. I hold my hand in front of the lens and snap a picture to show the start and finish of the pano and let photoshop do the rest. Also with these pano I shoot you can then crop and resize for the picture you like and still have the detail.

I got into NPS when it was hard to get a Z9 and it worked like a charm. I ordered the Z180-600 as soon as I could after the announcement, albeit a little "late" compared to those who got in right at the start. Even so, as soon as B&H got their order from Nikon mine was being shipped...should arrive after the weekend. Well, I'm a happy camper so far, of course, fantasizing about the different configurations re. my bodies, haha. I'm in week six after a reverse shoulder replacement on my left shoulder (I'm right handed, luckily) and things are healing nicely. So now I'm thinking about how I'm going to use this beast...gimble 'on' for some surfing; with the lens hooked to my Z50 to start! Heh...

This the email I received from NPS on the 31st.

Great news! Your NPS priority delivery request has been processed and your NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens is ready to be shipped to Tempe Camera Repair Inc.

Delivery to your dealer may take up to 10 business days, so please arrange to follow-up after this time with Tempe Camera Repair Inc for details pertaining to your order.

Picked the Z180-600 up Sept. 1st. Had a MRI on my right shoulder last week. It looks like the only time I will get to use the lens is when it's on a tripod for now.

His book on Z8/Z9 setup is really valuable to non-wildlife shooting folks as well. Reason being he explains and illustrates virtually all menu options/functions, many of which you may never discover or understand if you just studied the Nikon manual and poked around in the menu system. The book truly provides well written, easy to understand why or why not you might want to set things up a certain way for whatever type of shooting you do.

I also own the book. Couldn't have said it better!

I registered my Z8 for the lug recall on 8/9, and I just received an email (8/14) with the shipping label. I'm receiving UPS orders today and tomorrow, so it will go out soon.

It's going out today using the same box and packing material that Nikon used to return it to me. Convenient.

8/14 Nikon acknowledged receiving the Z8.

Nikon has updated their service advisory for the Z8 to include both the mount issue and the strap eyelet issue. So it's official that they have the strap eyelet issue.

Yea I am batting a 1000. The first Z8 I bought the serial number match the problems they were having with the lens mount. Having it for only a few days the camera store allowed me to trade it in for another new Z8. The second Z8 I have yet to take it out of the box and guess what the serial number is one that has strap issues. Been buying Nikon cameras for over a 30 years and never had any issues. I guess that is what happens when you start depending on china for parts.

Here is my results with my Nikon D5 at the time. I now will be using a Nikon Z9, with a 180-600mm lens and will run tests with the lens when it shows up hopefully in the next couple weeks. Back in 17 I used a mylar film with a 200-400mm lens, for this eclipse I have ordered a couple 95mm ND filters, a 10 stop and a 15 stop. I will test these out when the lens shows up. I also will test with a Z TELECONVERTER TC-1.4x and Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x. Out of curiosity I just went out side with the Z9 and set the camera to f22 and 32000 shutter speed and looked at the sun the sky was a little hazy but still got the impression that I may not need the ND filters. Will call Nikon support and see if the camera can look directly at the sun. Just called Nikon support and I am glad that it was hazy could have damaged the sensor on the camera. Support sent me an email with an address for more info on how to shoot the eclipse. When get to my age memory is not what it used to be.

I've often about getting a drone, but I'm afraid I'd lose it, crash it, or get bored with it. Then, of course, there are the restrictions. I'm satisfied shooting from ground level.

Was a pilot till lost my medical. Back in the early 90s I and a hobby shop owner built a drone using 4 helicopter heads. It took two of us to fly it using 2 radio controls. If you do change your mind about buying one please go to a hobby store so you can get your questions answered. The drones today are so easy to fly till you get in to trouble.

I know this isn't a controversial topic, but I want to give a plug to shooting raw, anyway. I came across some shots from 2016, using a Sony a6000. All the images are arw - Sony raw. I often wondered if the guy who decided on that "arw" extension just mixed up the letters, intending to write "raw."

The pictures were shot in a high contrast situation - dark inside but bright outside. Using Luminar, I was able to process the twenty-five I wanted. The example of before and after below is probably the worst of the bunch, but it turned out being usable.

One thing about looking at pictures of a senior picnic from seven years ago - not all of the people in the pictures are still with us.

What I have done for years is profile my camera. And what that does for me is I can tell me how many stops below 0 that I can go and still have structure. The lower row is a little dark but in Adobe RAW I took the EXPOSURE setting back to ZERO. The camera I shot these with was a Nikon Z9. I seldom go three stop under but am comfortable with two. The large picture is the pic that I shot 3 stops under and in Adobe RAW took it to PLUS 4 in exposure. jerryc41 thanks for the mental exercise.

Funny, that picture reminded me that I have a double-plate similar to yours. I just can't bring myself to shoot video with a "still" camera. There's was someone at yesterday's event using a DSLR-type of camera with an external mic to shoot video for online.

A sony video camera use to sit on the right. My sony was many years old and still used a tape to record. It was a pain to down load and create a DVD. So do I need to say more about why I am using a still to do video?
