Stever Perry has an eBook about using the Z8/Z9 for wildlife. Wildlife doesn't interest me, so I'm wondering if I should get his book. If he had left "Wildlife" out of the title, I would have jumped on it. I have several of his books, so I know he produces a good product.

Any opinions?

He does a lot of wildlife photography so it kind of makes sense. He also had a good book on photographing birds in flight.

"Wildlife" spills over into about any kind of action/telephoto shooting! If I had any interest in mirrorless, I would jump on it with both feet! Perry does good stuff!

He also has good stuff on post-processing using Lightroom.

His book on Z8/Z9 setup is really valuable to non-wildlife shooting folks as well. Reason being he explains and illustrates virtually all menu options/functions, many of which you may never discover or understand if you just studied the Nikon manual and poked around in the menu system. The book truly provides well written, easy to understand why or why not you might want to set things up a certain way for whatever type of shooting you do.

I bought it and I don't even have a Z8/9. I bought it just in case I decide to buy a Z8. They're on backorder right now.

I have several of Steve's books. If you own and Z8 or Z9 then Secrets to the Nikon AF System: mirrorless edition is a very informative read as well as Deep Focus Techniques. He goes through the Nikon mirrorless AF system quirks and how to get around them. Both are slanted towards wildlife / birding, but are good for general purpose photography. His setup guide is also very helpful.

I don't know how they can be on backorder, since you just download them. It's not a hard copy book. Available immediately upon purchase.

I have downloaded the book on the Z8/Z9, even though I don't have a Z8, which I intend to buy, but which (Z8s) are on backorder, so I can't buy one. Is that any clearer?

It sounds like you meant the books are on backorder to me. Thanks for clarification.

He just posted a FREE custom controls worksheet for both the Z8 and Z9.

Unfortunately he no longer sells books like he used to, he sells downloadable books, no longer hard covers which I preferred.
I do not blame him as he makes more money on the downloadable books.
