Nice capture KJ. Isn't that a great little camera. I can't wait for Mexican vacation in Tulum next month. I'll be putting it thru the tests.

I just got the Samsung Galaxy 10S. The new display (Amoled 2560-1600) blows everything else out the window according to all reviews and it can take a 32-64gb micro SD card to store a considerable amount of photos!! About $500 on Amazon & Best Buy

Victor, will you be going back to this place? If so, try shooting it from a different angle. I had an experience not too long ago. I came upon this rock quarry operation that has a conveyor belt as long as this boardwalk. There was train at the end of it and great stormy clouds.

What was the first thing I did? Well Nightski being Nightski, I had to think of the most difficult way to shoot that scene. I scaled the foundation for the conveyor belt and shot it straight down the belt. Aha .. I thought ... nobody else will shoot from this spot. LOL What is it with me? I don't know, but as I walked away after taking several shots, I looked back at the scene one more time ..... and I saw the shot.

Yep, I hit myself on the head, took the shot, and went home. It was a light bulb moment for me. I work the scene much harder now, trying different angles, different DOF settings. It's hard, but I am trying not to make up my mind about something the moment I get there.

I think your photo is a great scene with tons of potential. I think you may have missed the angle. Here is the shot I am talking about. And please don't anyone pm Admin claiming that I am self promoting, because I am not selling my photos even though 500px says I am. I don't have it set up for that. I just want to share this angle with you, so you can ponder a different point of view. Now, don't get me wrong, I also have a very nice bridge shot that is straight down the bridge. Every scene is different ... every scene deserves to be worked.

Can you imagine how I would have missed the shot by shooting down the conveyor belt? I have an email that I give out to anyone here that asks and I would be happy to email you that shot if you would like to see the difference.

Thank you 2x for the insight and also for getting me to hopefully stop settling for one shot/one angle. Much appreciated.

On my monitor the color, or lack of it, is a problem. The picture looks like it is half black and white and half color. Neither being done well. I think you started with a good idea as far as composition goes but it looks over processed to me. I changed it to black and white, increased the contrast, and it became a whole different picture - really very nice! That's a start - let's see some more!

Thank you for your opinion/critique.

Welcome to the Critique Section! Hope you'll share your photos and your opinions with us here. Learning PP is a never-ending story, but it's fun. I enjoy fooling with PP almost as much as I enjoy taking photos. I hope you've also discovered the excellent PP section on UHH, which has members from expert to novice level who also enjoy this stuff.

You'll also get more feedback in this section if you click the box that says "store original" right beside the box you click to upload. That allows a larger version of your picture to be downloaded by those critiquing it, so they can comment on details we can't see in the thumbnail version.

Now for my humble opinion about your photo: I like the boardwalk itself, it is a great leading line and an interesting/arresting color. I wish it were taking us to something exciting - a lake, a cabin, a sunset, a person. I like what your processing has done to the boardwalk by making it grungier, and I like what it has done to the clouds making them dramatic. I don't much care for what it has done to the foliage which looks kind of dried up and dead even though the color tells you it isn't. If it were mine, I'd stack the processed version with an unprocessed version in Photoshop or Elements or any layers program and begin masking out the processed part of the foliage a bit at a time till I got more life back into it.

Thanks for sharing your photo here...

Victor, I really like your concept, but I just don't think the natural wood color and the B&W complement each other quite right. Maybe if the boardwalk was 'grunged' up a bit or was sepia toned(?) The wood just seems a little too new and bright for the B&W background.

On the other hand, it definitely grabs your eye and leads you into the middle of the scene. And that's a very good thing.

Thanks Dude.

Seeking a new P&S or bridge with an optical viewfinder for under $300. Have checked several web sites, but most don't distinguish between those with only a screen monitor and those that also have a viewfinder. Any suggestions?
