Victor, I really like your concept, but I just don't think the natural wood color and the B&W complement each other quite right. Maybe if the boardwalk was 'grunged' up a bit or was sepia toned(?) The wood just seems a little too new and bright for the B&W background.
On the other hand, it definitely grabs your eye and leads you into the middle of the scene. And that's a very good thing.

I agree and would make another suggestion: sepia tone what is now B&W and then try versions of selective color on the boardwalk.
Victor, will you be going back to this place? If so, try shooting it from a different angle. I had an experience not too long ago. I came upon this rock quarry operation that has a conveyor belt as long as this boardwalk. There was train at the end of it and great stormy clouds.
What was the first thing I did? Well Nightski being Nightski, I had to think of the most difficult way to shoot that scene. I scaled the foundation for the conveyor belt and shot it straight down the belt. Aha .. I thought ... nobody else will shoot from this spot. LOL What is it with me? I don't know, but as I walked away after taking several shots, I looked back at the scene one more time ..... and I saw the shot.
Yep, I hit myself on the head, took
the shot, and went home. It was a light bulb moment for me. I work the scene much harder now, trying different angles, different DOF settings. It's hard, but I am trying not to make up my mind about something the moment I get there.
I think your photo is a great scene with tons of potential. I think you may have missed the angle. Here is the shot I am talking about. And please don't anyone pm Admin claiming that I am self promoting, because I am not selling my photos even though 500px says I am. I don't have it set up for that. I just want to share this angle with you, so you can ponder a different point of view. Now, don't get me wrong, I also have a very nice bridge shot that is straight down the bridge. Every scene is different ... every scene deserves to be worked.

I have an email that I give out to anyone here that asks and I would be happy to email you that shot if you would like to see the difference.

Thank you 2x for the insight and also for getting me to hopefully stop settling for one shot/one angle. Much appreciated.
