I have a Manfretto at home. This thing is just as solid. Not like the SLIK U8000s that were here. Now those were almost useless

For those of you whom decided to play along….

It is a guerrilla painter’s stand, used to secure a set of paints while painting outdoors (ie. Artist stuff, not house painting. I found the matching paint set, which had the adapter plate and, more importantly, the camera mount.

These kits can be very heavy (makes a camera with even a long lens look reasonable), so well made.

Since I found the mount, and it is a basic camera mount, will be going to the local photography center at the high school.

Thanks for the comments

@userID- sorry, but this is heavy duty. That said, I would agree with the comment about the mounting plate. Much more to open, so maybe we will find it attached to one of the cameras or in a bag as we go. We found an older Canon rebel SLR, I am not sure ever used, so who knows what is next

We also found 2 SLIK U8000s, with their plates. Much lighter duty

I think much of this will go to the art dept at local school, if they want it

Hi

Among items found in parents house, was a like-new Novatron lighting system. Two strobes, controller, and umbellas. I would love to keep, but going through their house reminds not to put one thing in my house that I don’t need, and while it would be fun to have this, it is more likely my kids will be making the same kind of post.

Please see pics. This is a full kit in a nice foam hard case. Has original materials

A) What do you think it is realistically worth? (Ebay is all over the map)
B) Are you interested, or know someone whom might be?

Hi,

Hoping some clever person(s) can help identify this tripod. No markings, but seems reallyheavy-duty. We are clearing out a parents house and have come upon a treasure trove of camera items, from 6+ various cannon bodies (both SLR and DSLR), bags of lenses, accessories. Most will go to the local highschool as a donation, but we are looking for values on some items, like this tripod.

Condition: perfect except camera foot is missing.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi

Steve Perry, whom graces us with his presence, it an expert on all thinks BBF and has good guides to most of the Nikon range of cameras. If there is a way to do what you want, he likely has published on it. You can also try sending him a DM or try his website.

Good luck

If you have a Nikon D7200, then I….

If you want to ensure, do so, but I think on a D7200 (which is my main piece), I would not bother. Unlike the other poster who travels with $18000 worth of equipment, my total, including all 3 of my lenses, could not total over $4K. In fact, if something did happen, it might well push me to mirrorless….

My solution is my Sony RX100 vii. Great travel camera (as was just covered in two threads). I desire a camera for snapshots of my travel vacations, not works of art, and the Sony is no slouch up to medium size prints I want to enjoy the place and family, not lug around equipment. If I was going on a specific photography centric trip, my answer would be different (probably all the way to renting better equipment, WITH its insurance.).

Only you can decide the balance of the purpose of your trip, and if the trade-offs are worth it. Shipping is not a bad idea. How often do many of buy online and have equipment shipped with no damage? You could ship to your destination, and include a shipping label to be able to send it back. Keep the SD cards on the way home. Your images are worth more than the equipment.

I love my rx100 vii camera. Agree with all of the comments so far, but one not mentioned. The rx100 has a pop up viewfinder with diopter correction. As I frequently like to pull it out and shoot without having to go from sunglasses to readers doe a quick snapshot, I really prefer this. Great walk around, even when I am working with my DSLR for subject specific work

My only negative is I find the menus long and complicated. That said, there is a nice user defined menu where you can consolidate your favorite items for quick access
