Whenever i had a camera up to my eye, she would find me, even from an early age. She was 8 in the B&W image and is now almost 24.
Of course I love her! Wouldn't you?

Thanks for viewing.

BEWARE! If you have an iPhone and have done the recent iOS 17 update. They have set a new feature call NameDrop to default to ON. This allows the sharing of contact info AND YOUR PHOTOS!… just by bringing your phones close together…even with strangers. To shut this off go to Settings/General/Airdrop/Bringing Devices Together/Change to OFF.

I shut mine off.
Mark

Thanks Mark. I just shut mine off after I read your message. If I want to share with family or friends I can always turn it on temporarily

We had one that was a party line. I still remember the number: Asbury 6491j Memory?? I might be able to find my car keys.
Mark

When we finally got a phone it was a two party line. Our number was 26078 later they added HI (44). My grandparents were on an 8 party line (4 on each side of the so you could only hear half while the other half left you with a busy signal when you picked up to make a call).

Indeed I did enjoy these things and glad I did. Wouldn't have had it any other way. By the way. I think I only got $.02 per bottle.

You’re right about the bottles. It was two cents per bottle.

I was recently diagnosed via biopsy with basal cell skin cancer between my nose and my camera eye (left). I had an MRI yesterday and will get the result (probably) on Tuesday when I see the dermatologist who will do Mohs surgery, tentatively scheduled for early next month. If the worst scenario occurs, how will I continue taking pictures? I tried to look through my right eye as an experiment and it just seemed too weird.

I’ll let you know. I am having the same surgery on my nose the 30th of November. I have a combination basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas on my right side of my nose and I am right eye dominate.

These are funny, Jerry. My daughter, who's 46, was talking to her girlfriend the other day, about the "old days" and the fashions (of the 80's) and the TV shows and it brought a smile to my face. I suppose there are some "older" timers here that would roll their eyes and smile at my reminiscing of the 50's too. Oh well, I guess "The beat goes on.".

How about the 1930s and those cowboy serials at the local movie theater where there was a “cliff hanger” at the end and you had to wait until next Saturday for the next episode. Then when I became old enough, I finally worked as an usher at one oft the local theaters 1945 or 1946.

On Friday the school had a fantastic 1 hour long presentation to thank the veterans. My navy son-in-law and I attended. The children and the school recognized each military branch in the order of their start date. There were a few people from the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Airforce who stood up when their song was played. There there was no one from the space force. It was apparent that a lot of work and thought went into the presentation.

An unrelated side note. A couple of days ago used my military discount at Lowes and the clerk did not not thank me for my service; not that i need thanks. I wonder if it was an oversite or just what she felt.

I don’t need anyone to say “thank you for your service” because I never served in combat. If anything, I thank the service for teaching me the leadership skills and team skills that helped me wind up as the unit director for 12 years of my 30 year career in my technical specialty. Yes, I enlisted as a private in the Army during the Korean War and even got a direct commission as a Second Lieutenant and eventually promoted to First Lieutenant, but my military career mostly was making sure that military manufacturing facilities and army bases were not causing health problems to both the troops and the community.

Just curious - How many of you (men, only) have a mustache or beard of any kind? I had a mustaches for decades, and then I shaved it off. Now, I have a mustaches and chin whiskers. Since Covid, many more men have beards.

Mustache since around 1976. I fell and broke a tooth and cut my face so once the tash grew I never shaved it off.

Does anyone know if they are still in business? My wife has been buying peanuts, etc from them for years and the last time was a few months ago. Now she can’t seem to get them on the phone and their website is not accepting orders. When I tried their email it bounced. Have they gone belly up? If so, is there another source of quality peanut, cashews and almonds among other things. We always had Christmas orders to friends and relatives. If you are in the Williamsburg area could you let know. Thanks in advance
