Here is a post at PetaPixel on an internet search service that will take half of your judgement award. Not a very good review for its Terms Of Service.

Not seeing any recent posts in my search; and not sure I trust most Google โ€œbest.....โ€ results, I will ask the UHH community:

Need to replace a couple external hard drives (both 1TB) as I am running low on space. One is a Seagate and the other is a Western Digital and I have had no problems with either.

Suggestions/Recommendations on 4TB external Hard drives (not SSD). Using for photo backup only.
Thanks!

If you do not want to go with Gene51's suggestion for buying a nice enclosure and installing your own enterprise class drive I have had very good luck with G-Drive external drives (owned by Western Digital). They are more expensive than consumer class Seagate or Western Digital enclosed drives but seem to be much faster, perhaps three times faster when writing a large amount of small files. And check B&H for them as they usually have very good prices on these G-Drives.

I doubt that Lucas, Disney, or Marvel Studios still use Macs as there was no decent Mac Pro available after the release of the black tube Mac Pro. But this is a beautiful and very well designed Mac Pro though still priced higher than an equivalent Windows machine.

Here is a how to web site:

And this is the product website:

I visited his storefront in Dixon, CA and he cleaned the sensor on my Panasonic GX85 while I watched as a learning experience. Then I bought one of his kits.

On M4/3 cameras like Olympus and Panasonic you leave both turned to on increase the effectiveness unless you are using a tripod.

Jerry, can you select the text in your PDF and copy it to another application like Word? If not the PDF is an image file and the text will not be editable. A scanned document that is saved in PDF format is usually an image file and hence will not be editable.

Your PC will support 16Gb of RAM according to Crucial's site @ $86 for a two x 8Gb kit.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/envy-700-230/CT8961890

Just check to make sure it is the right RAM by running their Scan Computer scanner. And this is assuming you currently have two 4Gb chips.

Just as a note: Apple's newer computers now use APFS, the Apple Files System. Here are the file system types supported by Apple's Disk Utility:

Apple File System (APFS): The file system used by macOS 10.13 or later.

Mac OS Extended: The file system used by macOS 10.12 or earlier.

MS-DOS (FAT) and ExFAT: File systems that are compatible with Windows.

Newish Apple Macs (with High Sierra 10.13 and later) can use APFS formatted drives but Apple's Time Machine backup software even on new Macs cannot. That is why the G-Drive comes formatted as HFS+.

If an external drive is formatted as APFS it cannot be used by a Mac that has OSX 10.12 (Sierra) or earlier. APFS cannot be used on a Windows PC. APFS cannot be used for Time Machine backups.

So if the drive is to be used on only Macs use HFS+. If it is to be only used on Windows 7 or Windows 10 use NTFS. If it to be used on both Windows and OSX use exFAT.

The G-Drive may come with software that allows a Windows machine to read and write to an HFS+ formatted drive but only on the Windows PC that has that software installed. And there may be software for Mac that will let you read and write to an NTFS formatted drive. But both OSs will read and write to exFAT formatted drives. If you are not going to be moving the drive between the Mac and Windows operating systems choose the native format for the OS.

Windows use NTFS, Mac use HFS+, if both OSs use exFAT.

I have been saving my change for a large purchase at B&H so I got myself all signed up with Payboo in order to save on the taxes. It was fairly easy to get everything in order however, I had to call Payboo several times because my card never showed up. It took about three weeks before I had it in hand.
Well, over the weekend, I decided to order a few items and used the Payboo card for the purchase, it would have saved me $12 in taxes.
So today, I checked my payboo account and it has my balance posted and I try to pay off the balance with my credit card (VISA). They won't accept credit cards....they want my checking account number, routing number and all that.
I don't want to set up another checking account just to pay off Payboo balances so, I called B&H and as usual, they took care of the problem. I paid with my VISA and cancelled the order through Payboo.
Maybe I was supposed to know that you can't pay off one credit card with another but, I do now.
Just so you know.
I have been saving my change for a large purchase ... (show quote)

When you purchase something from a vendor using a credit card the vendor is charged a fee.
I believe the reason that this works for B&H is that B&H has arranged for lower fees from the Synchrony Bank for the Payboo card. It is not really a credit card as it can only be used at B&H. The downside for the Payboo user is that the interest rate is very high if you do not pay it off monthly.

You can always pay your bill by snail mail when it arrives. And another thing to realize is that the information that you need to give to Synchrony (your checking account number and routing number) in order to pay using your checking account online are written on every check you write so these are not "secret" numbers in any sense.

Here is a video of the up and downsides to the Payboo:
