Thanks to all who responded and after much deliberation I decided to "play it safe" and purchased the Sony battery and charger. Ended up getting 3 camera items at Best Buy and got a 25% discount so it brought the cost down. Although I'm sure the after market batteries are fine, None of them match the exact specs as the Sony products. Thanks again!!!

I've been looking on Amazon for a back-up battery and charger for my Sony a6300 and the battery for Sony NP-FW50 is $61.99 the charger BC-TRW is $23.00, then I see all these after market combo's for anywhere between $6.95 to $32.99 for two batteries with a charger. The Sony battery has a 1020 mAh which I believe is the strength of the battery, for how long it will last, and the after market ones are anywhere from 1100 mAh to 1500 mAh. Let me know which after market ones are worth the money or should I bite the bullet and buy the Sony brand ? Thanks

I have the Sony A6300, I really didn't want all the bells and whistles which came with the A6500. I got the bundle at Best Buy on sale with the two kits lenses for $1149.98. That included the 16-50mm and 55-210mm. I know everyone says not to get the kit lenses and I'm sure the other lenses that are recommended are better quality but the question is how much better a lens do you need ? I very satisfied with the kit lenses they both take excellent true to life pictures. The A6300 has a weather tight body which the A6000 doesn't. As far as the smallness of the body I ended up getting a hand grip/strap attachment which gives me a more secure grip on the slim camera body. If you go to this link you can compare any two cameras you'd like, I compared the A6000 with the A6300 and the A6300 is ranked #7 out of all Rangefinder-style mirrorless cameras the A6500 is ranked #8 and the A6000 is ranked # 17 ! Has anyone used extension tubes for the Sony a6300, I've been researching online looking at extension tubes by Meike in the $20 range to Viltrox in the $30 range to Vello in the $80 ranges, some are all plastic while others are a combo of plastic and metal. Some have the electrical connections which makes them compatible with the camera's functions which is important to me. The ones I've been looking at come with a 10mm and 16mm ring. I've read that some of these don't fit together and wiggle so if anyone has used these please give me your reviews. Thanks

I bought the Sony a6300, it's a very compact and high quality camera, I also thought the grip was a little small, being that the camera is small and added a "hand grip" which makes it feel more secure for me!

Thanks again to all who've responded, I've gotten some good ideas from your suggestions. Thanks "NorthPacific" I appreciate all the effort and time you put into your response. I like everyone else love to take fantastic pictures and strive to do my best but sometimes I feel like straying off the beaten path and try something unique and different, thus my interest in the Sony a6300 special effects options. I didn't mean to start a heated discussion over someone's photographs as to whether they are good or not. Constructive criticism is good to a point. Let's leave it as "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" ! Thanks again.

Thanks to all who've replied, although the Sony a6300 has the options to shoot in JPEG & RAW I only shoot JPEG, I either like the picture or I don't. I know that there's a lot of software out there to post-process pictures, just thought it might be possible to do it on the camera. I agree with "Chaman" , " A good image talks by itself without any effects", well said, but I just had the urge to play with the effects. Thanks!!

I've owned my Sony a6300 for only two months and am thrilled with the results so far. I discovered the "picture effects" to take pictures in 6+ modes to create a new effect such as "watercolor". My question is I know how to take a picture to add whatever effect I choose before I take a picture but can I take an already taken picture and add the effect afterwards? And if it's possible to do that, then can I change it back if I don't like the results? I've seen "YouTube" videos showing other Sony models where they can see a picture on the screen and go from one effect to another and see the different results as they scroll through the effects, but on the a6300 model you have to go into the menu thus only showing the menu on the screen. Thanks for your input.

Thanks Walt, looking for a hand rather than wrist strap.

I have a Sony a6300 and feel the need for extra security as the grip around the right side of the camera is small. I've gotten some suggestions for the Joby Ultra Fit and others. I sort of like the looks of the Herringbone Heritage hand grip, does anyone use one for the Sony a6300 ? I don't want a wrist grip, just a hand strap. Thanks!!!!
