Another stunning set! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks guys. The input and feedback from this site and people means a lot!
Both are basically the same picture. Sample A is cropped a bit more than B. Both were tweaked using Perfectly Clear in PS and both had lens calibration tweaks with PS. Major difference in settings was: Sample A used a HD filter in Perfectly Clear, Sample B used a landscape filter.
Equipment: D750 and the 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 (Thanks Pat! Sharp lens, great pics from it!)
Settings: Manual, ISO 1400, f/5.6, 1/1000 shutter, focal length 300mm.
Let me know your thoughts. Original, untouched JPEG is included for comparison...for some reason, UHH won't let me upload the NEF.

Sample B

I have a 1200mm lens and let me say there are 3000+ new impacts in the Mar in the last three years. One glowed for almost six hours after it's impact they say. Keep looking up; now you are an astro photographer!
That is an expensive piece of glass. I've thought about buying the Nikon 2x teleconverter but it always seemed hard to justify. I may revisit this idea...

Yes, just right. For discussion, when focused at infinity, the largest aperture is fine (unless the lens is not sharp wide open--and in this case, corners don't matter). That would give faster shutter for longer focal length handheld.
Thanks for the tip and input!
Thanks Kmgw9v. Coming from a resident UHH veteran and experienced photographer, that means a lot to me to hear you say that.
It is a scam. There are a TON of scams on Amazon. Especially when the seller is listed as new and provides an email address to "confirm stock" before ordering. You email them, they tell you its in stock, and send you a fake Amazon page where they ask you to pay with Apple gift cards. Total scam...
My grandfather used to tell me: "All a lock does is keep an honest person, honest." He also said: "If it exists, there is a person trying to exploit it."
That. Is. Awesome!
Love it...
I don't usually experiment with lunar photos but my 750 was already out (previous photos of the kids), the moon was full, and my NIKKOR 70-200 f/2.8 was already locked in place. I didn't grab the tri-pod. I thought I would see what I could get hand held, experiment, and test the VR.
Details:
ISO - 100, f/5, 1/320 sec., focal length 200mm, hand held, cropped to 100% in PS. Let me know your thoughts. Again, this was effort in experimentation...
Ed,
That is an absolutely stunning photo...I have no other words than that to describe it. Kudos to you and thank you for sharing.
Great shots! Love the color and tone. You have a fantastic eye for quality...
Rob,
Absolutely stunning images. The first two are breath taking. Very well done...
Yes...AF not IF. It works perfectly well on a D5100. I originally purchased it to use on my D5100.
Take a look at Ken's review on it. Link is above...
