Moon shot

I don't usually experiment with lunar photos but my 750 was already out (previous photos of the kids), the moon was full, and my NIKKOR 70-200 f/2.8 was already locked in place. I didn't grab the tri-pod. I thought I would see what I could get hand held, experiment, and test the VR.

Details:

ISO - 100, f/5, 1/320 sec., focal length 200mm, hand held, cropped to 100% in PS. Let me know your thoughts. Again, this was effort in experimentation...

Thanks Kmgw9v. Coming from a resident UHH veteran and experienced photographer, that means a lot to me to hear you say that.

Yes, just right. For discussion, when focused at infinity, the largest aperture is fine (unless the lens is not sharp wide open--and in this case, corners don't matter). That would give faster shutter for longer focal length handheld.

Don't listen to anyone about changing you styles. If some one from way down in Miami likes it, it is great. They know about moon shots down there. I like them as they are going down; totally awesome. I have a 1200mm lens and let me say there are 3000+ new impacts in the Mar in the last three years. One glowed for almost six hours after it's impact they say. Keep looking up; now you are an astro photographer!

Thanks for the tip and input!

That is an expensive piece of glass. I've thought about buying the Nikon 2x teleconverter but it always seemed hard to justify. I may revisit this idea...
