Bottom line is that today's glass is so much better then the glass of even 15 years ago, let alone 30+ year old glass. Just buy the current lens that you want and enjoy taking pic without any adapters, compensation for this or that, or learning how to use the old lens on the new body. It will be worth every penny!
Good luck and enjoy.

The OP's question was ALWAYS carry. For me, the same 3 items. After that, what will be carried depends on the location, situation, and purpose.

There is a big difference between legal and proper. In a public place you can take pic, but as most have said, the subjects won't be happy and none will know your, or their legal rights. If you shoot the face(s) then you need model permission to use the photo in any way, even just a one person, non-sales display of your work. Could you have taken the pic from behind so that you convey the uniqueness of the situation without showing the face? Bottom line is that it's just not worth the hassle to get a photo if the subject objects, even if it is legal.

1) Send it back and protest the charge on your CC.
2) Name them to prevent others from having problems with them. Your job is not to protect the undeserving, but to protect fellow consumers.

Too late now, but I would not have taken the pic with her in it. If a person would insist on being in the pic, I'd tell them I'm not a pro, and don't travel with model releases, so I'll pass on the pic.

Not all TSA agents are created equal. There are good, understanding agents, and there are badge happy, know-it-all asses. Mount your lens shades backwards to reduce the risk of it coming off while being checked, and a helpful TSA agent (who know nothing about cameras) replacing it and screws up your lens' focusing ability.

Travel light and simple. A body, a second lens, and a small flash. My monopod fits in the check suitcase.

The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy your trip.

It's interesting that a DSLR is considered a "large" camera these days. At a wedding a few weeks back, I brought out a Canon pocket camera and someone made the comment, "Oh look, a real camera." I did Disney World with a Nikon F-100, with a 28-200 lens, a few years back and had no problem with it's size, but left the rest of the "kit" in the locker. A lot cooler than leaving it in the car.

The explanation that you got, and gave to us is very confusing at the least. Isn't there an actual country of Russia, separate from the rest of the Russian confederation?

Agree with those that like the shock absorbing capability of a regular camera bag. The dividers keep things from moving around. As one who has had TSA idiots inspect my luggage, and damage a lens, they will tear apart your packing, remove the socks, and just put everything back into the back pack without any concern as to how they are "repacking". Small insurance to have a camera bag.

It ain't slim, and it ain't sleek, but it's the greatest ground support plane ever. Jim-pops - It was the Air Force that tried to shut down the A-10. In fact, the AF has tried to shut it down for over 20 years. It's the government (Congress) that has kept it alive. The Army and Marines love that plane.

Without knowing where you shop, I can only say that I priced the Passport drives at Office Max last week, the the 2T was around $100. I think the 4T was around $200. If that Best Buy price is correct, I'd get one. Or grab the scan disc ssb, but where?

The first line has 4 mistakes. The second line just asks a question about the first line. The answer to the question is, false, because there are 4 errors, not 5.
